Again sarge needs to confront the source of his information. He is using ancedotal evidence about what he thinks he witnessed at his church. Acedotal evidence is not evidence, fact, or proof.

Sarge has expressed that he thinks his form of christianity is the right one, but that is another topic that he has blocked me for trying to discuss with him.

as usual sarge tries to turn things his way. You have been proven wrong before but yet you fail to acknowledge it.

I know you regret your statement "The reason I mentioned communion is because they offer it at the service. The Christians take it, the non-Christians do not. So, you can see a pretty reliable estimation of Christians vs. non-Christians"

tell God your sorry

Libbies don't understand - we can judge who is a real Christian and who isn't. We know and we understand. We know who is damned and who isn't. Your "facts" and "logic" mean nothing and melt in the light of our truth.

I think it's interesting how some groups of Christians think other Christians are not really Christians because they don't worship in the same way. And vice-versa. Very closed minded, in my opinion.

sarge, it is as much as you offered except I don't think your a Non-Christian if you don't go to church or take communion. You on the other hand said "The Christians take it, the non-Christians do not".

I will ask the big guy to help you.

Creek Dancer, you are right

Who does that Creek Dancer? I haven't seen any of that on this thread. Are you assuming that somebody on here believes that?

"Closed minded" could be someone who won't open their mind to what is written in the Bible. Who is to say you are less closed-minded than somebody who believes God said to worship in certain ways? It is possible you are closing your mind to God's Word.

Creek Dancer. mjc, Ewker and all the Libbies need to understand. If you call our religion "myth" you are hateful. If we say someone who believes they are Christian are un-Christian - and are false Christians, we are just registering the facts. What we say is truth. Your opinion is wrong and hateful.

Ewker - Your reply had nothing to do with my quote vs. your quote. You changed the subject.

Why won't you demonstrate your logic for me? I want to learn. Please don't keep changing the subject to avoid it.

Sarge is operating under his normal MO. He refuses to answer any questions or address any points that he is in capable of arguing against. Instead he will keep trying to bury you deeper and deeper into his meaningless rhetoric.

Sarge is closed minded because he has faith in a book that he refuses to question. He sees any questioning of his faith as a hateful and hurtful action. It is only hurtful to him because he is too weak to reflect upon the foundation of his beliefs.

An open mind might say that religion is an attempt to install a moral code onto an immoral people. That the stories are based on some actual events, but the people of the time could not explain them. They thought it was the magic of a mythical creature that was trying to guide their path through life. Moral codes are good, but the inability to accept others because they have nearly unperceivable difference in the way they interpret the same codes is closed minded, hateful, and ignorant.

It is the open minded person who will ask an extremist like sarge a question at all.
However, Sarge is the prime example of a closed mind. Even the name he uses, Sarge, is a reflection upon that.

Well, it's nice to see everyone in the Christmas spirit here. I will be conducting Christmas Eve Services, Christmas Day Services, a Cantata this Sunday, and telling the story to a bunch of kiddos (already did that at primary school this morn). And Stovey, you haven't been to one of my weddings yet, LOL. A good ol BoHunky wedding is da bomb.

Hey, Chappy, would I be out of line to ask you to join us in the "Prove your Religion thread"?

I think you could help out a Cleveland 77327 boy, with some intelligent discussion.

I understand if you don't want to be sucked into such a long degenerated discussion.

My mantra has been "how is religion different from mythology?".

My church will be open.

My sermon is titled, 'The Modern Church, How Satan and Santa can be used to Destroy the Liberal Left.'

My initial gut reaction is that it is silly that a church would close on Christmas Day.

But, Dec. 25 is probably not really Jesus' birth anyway and was only really picked as Christmas because it served as a diversion for those wishing to observe non-Christian solstice celebrations...

And my wife and I always go to Saturday Catholic mass that is supposedly okay because it starts after sundown and therefore is part of Sunday, but the sun is mostly out when we go in at 4:30 and 5PM. So, it's not really on Sunday...

And, if there were no adjustments to fit society, then Christianity would have been confined to the relatively small population of ethnic Jews...

So, yes, it is completely crazy that these churches aren't open on Christmas. But Jesus has to live in the actual world.

In 30 years we'll all be wearing virtual reality sunglasses and touch mimicking body suits going to mass in our living rooms anyway, so let's just get on with it, eh?

And May the Higher Power or Unifying Force bring pleasantries to all this multi-ritual Holiday Season! :)

Also, if it is so important that there be one way to be a Christian, why did the Protestants get rid of the Pope in the first place?

Again, Happy Holidays!

"You enter a doorway. You see a chest 35' to in front of you at 35 degrees to the right."

Your thief approaches and attempts to open it. He rolls the 35 sided dice.

He rolls a 29.

Eight snakes and an elf come out of the chest.

What will you do?"

"My magician casts a spell of invisibility."

"Roll the dice.

You roll a 13. Your magic spell does 3 hit point damages to the snakes, and the elf loses 1 charisma. This is getting ugly folks.

He attacks.

He rolls a 17.

He does no damage.

What will you do?"

"I'm going to get a Pepsi. Anyone else want one?"

"Yeah, do you have any more Doritos?"

"No, but my sister has some gummi worms."

"That's cool."

"Come on guys, what are you going to do?"

"We're going to attack. Those snakes are TOAST! They got noth'n on us! Pass the gummi worms."

at my yoga temple, we have christmas eve singing and chant "joy to the world" for several minutes along with several other traditional hymns that is followed by silent meditation on how he lived and what he talked about during his life.
On Chrismas morning there is a talk about how close Jesus' life and teachings parallel what true yoga is about. Developing a "Christ consciousness" is discussed.
My yoga teacher is always saying "Christ belongs to the yogi" (belongs in our consciousness)and giving examples from the sermon on the mount and the book of John.

i have to say that i have learned more at yoga about the Christ than in any Christian church i ever attended including being raised Catholic. go figure~~~~~~
