Maybe this should go in the "Gear" category....
Check out this website - FREE silver jewlery! All you do is pay shipping on it. I've talked to people who have received their items, and its good quality stuff. I haven't bought anything yet, but think I will today if somehting nice comes up.

Silver jewelry sucks! You have to keep cleaning it, even if you keep it in a bag that retards tarnishing.

Better alternatives, much better, white gold or platinum.

I love my silver jewlery. The tarnishing that LH doesn't like is not a problem if you wear it every day and what tarnish does occur adds character to the piece. I love the handmade stuff from the southwest that comes out from the Zuni and Hopi Indians. I love turquoise as well.

My favorite on-line place to buy:

I look for stuff to go on sale.

I love silver jewelry, but I am allegic to the american silver. I have a bracelet from turkey I can wear. All european silver is okay.

Must be some nickel or kobalt in the silver over here.

oh btw...if you are looking for silver charms, go to http://www.artbeads.com/charms.html or this one: http://www.bluemud.com/dept.asp?dept%5Fid=127&toc%5Fid=127

lh i like white gold too, but can afford silver and really prefer it, the frequent wearing yields a patina that is really special and does not tarnish as much.
I love authentic Hopi and Navajo silverwork.

I love silver jewelry.
Most of mine are rings... :-)

Silver with a hot pink CZ... (big surprse!) :-)

I went to their ebay site. Silver is quite inexpensive compared to gold--I'm sure they manufacture a lot of jewelry, so it probably costs them pennies on the dollar to manufacture... For a small pendant, the postage (if using 1st class mail) would probably be about 60 cents... Even if they used priority mail, it would only cost them $3.70 to mail, so they are making at least a couple of dollars on each item... Plus, if you use the "wal-mart" concept of business, they can make a lot more by selling many items for a smaller price, than lesser items for a bigger price.... :-)

hiking,
I have a little silver, turquoise and coral ring I got as a kid in 1976 when my family drove to California. I wore it so much that some of the inlaid stones (it must have been epoxy and stone--the stones were tiny little chips) wore down and the band finally cracked (my fingers got bigger LOL)... I love the fact that it does have a bit of a patina--it gives the ring character. :-D

As long as you wear it, it won't tend to tarnish too much... ;-)

This was my first order. I hope it looks as nice as the photo. I like pendants and got one that had 2 Czs on it. :-). At $6, I'm sure they are still making a profit--sterling silver is pretty inexpensive when it comes to raw costs.

I just placed an order. When I checked the site this morning they seem to be featuring garnet stuff. Garnet and silver is one of my favorite combinations. I am so curious about what it looks like in person.

Ooooooo, cute garnet toe ring at the moment.

It came in the mail over the holidays. :-)
Pretty quick!

I now realize how it is that they make money--it only costs them about 0.50 to ship it to me... (Weight is nearly negligible... and it's made in Thailand...so I'm sure it costs very little to manufacture.

But, the quality seems nice, although because they blow it up so big on the screen, you have to make sure to read the sizes of the items...

The pendant I got had some CZs and kind of looks like a little looped wire cross. Very pretty-- good for holiday gifts and stocking stuffers... I wouldn't pay what they say is retail (i.e. $59.99), but for 5.99, it's a nice little piece of "fun" jewelry... I'm going to keep my eye out for ringss for the fuure...

Hey Ruby-- Did your item come? what did you think of it?

Pink, I got my garnet drop earrings and I like them quite a bit. I feel the same as you do...wouldn't pay $50, but for $6 they are very nice. I also ordered a garnet pendent w/chain. I wore both of those pieces today and liked the way they looked (goes well with my silver and garnet ring). I ordered some blue topaz earrings for my sister. Not sure if she received them yet or not.

Ruby-- That sounds cool! I like garnet as well. :-) A few years back, I took a jewelry class and made myself a garnet cabachon ring (bezel set with a twisted silver band). :-) I love the color--for an inexpensive gemstone, it looks very rich in color...

Let me know how she likes the blue topaz--I love the color, and hope that the ring I've ordered is nice. It's small--only 1 carat and 5 x 7mm stone, but will add to my "fun ring" collection!
