Well get out on one of the TT hikes in PA. It's prolly the most active state here. Sleeping with them is optional, but it will let you meet some new people in the area. You looked at the trips page on here.

I am an old married guy and not an expert in this area, but a lot of couples have met as a result of TT. In some cases they met on the threads first and in another case they met on an outing.

Good luck!!

BTW, what are your interests? Maybe that will help stir up some action! (A young man I know real well 28 and single. He tried internet dating for a while. He stopped because he found a lot of nice girls, but they had nothing interesting to even talk about.)

While Rome burns, I've been doing homework!
Hey Good Lookin', have you hiked any of George Washington's 1753 trail in Butler County? Do you live anywhere close to the trail? The 7-mile stretch along the North Shore in Moraine State Park sounds interesting to me. With 8-females to every 7-males in Butler, I can understand how some females can be overlooked. But I can't believe it of you. You're way too good looking to be overlooked. That's a danger flag. But you do have a good personality: You can both take and deliver jokes and seem to have an open mind regarding life. You're definitely worth a second look from the men of Butler. You are close to Pittsburgh, PA, maybe within 30 miles, so you are able to enjoy many activities and big city facilities like restaurants, museums and shopping. In fact, you probable cannot be considered a country girl. Butler could use a hospital. And the two libraries could use some new books. Questions - Do they grow a lot of cranberries in your area? Do you shop at BiLo? Do you subscribe to the Butler Eagle? When would be the best time to meet you? Have you attended BC3? Where did you study teaching? Degrees? Are you now or have you ever been a cheerleader? homecoming queen? prom queen? appeared in PlayBoy? in any plays? performed in any musical events? whispered sweet things in anyone else's ears? Are you a strong hugger? Do you enjoy hugging? Is it snowing yet? Snow showers are forecast in Butler tonight. Would you prefer to see the Nutcracker Suite at Heinz Hall on Dec 16, 2005, Harlem Globetrotters at Mellon Arena on Dec 26, 2005 or both? That's enough for now.

I met my wife on an internet site. I loved the idea of the "impersonal" checklist. I didn't have to waste my time dating girls I had zero in common with. I met several with common interests, and some who claimed common interests. In deed some of these women only wanted me for one thing. I felt like such a piece of meat. I managed to fend off theor advances and maintain my dignity!

Sorry, DeoreDX. Brokeback Mountain does not sound like something I would enjoy.
"they gravitate towards camaraderie and then a deeper intimacy."

"And when Jack at last arrives, in just one moment it is clear that the passage of time has only strengthened the men's attachment. In the years that follow, Ennis and Jack struggle to keep their secret bond alive. They meet up several times annually. Even when they are apart, they face the eternal questions of fidelity, commitment and trust. Ultimately, the one constant in their lives is a force of nature - love."
I sure don't know why my post makes you want to take me to see Brokeback Mountain. I hope you're not taking a liking to me!

Phil - That's the trouble with internet dating - it's easy to meet people that way, but it's hard to meet people with common interests that way. Dating is time consuming and it's better to find someone while you're doing something you enjoy doing because then at least you have something in common.

I met my fiancée off of Match.com. We started off with the emails and upgraded to chatting online. Once we got a good feel for one another we started in on phone calls and also agreed to a first "non date" which was hiking at a local state park. We kept it non date to avoid the pressure of a normal date. Well needless to say by allowing the two of us to be ourselves we fell in love with one another.

So with that being said I give a vote for internet dating.

I'm 27 and have dated quite a bit before finding my true love, Flasher ;) We met after reading very detailed profiles about each other and seeing pictures-full disclosure! It's a GREAT screening tool to take advantage of--internet dating allows you to window shop without any obligation to buy :). You can weed out all the jerks, all the losers, and all the sex-crazed freaks by never talking to them. It's great! You save time by avoiding terrible first dates and obligatory follow-up phone calls. A good friend once told me "You have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your prince." This is a great way to avoid the really ugly, wart-ridden frogs, at least.

Mtngirlutah,
I'm right where you are in a new town and state. The holidays are a slow time socially if you don't already have acquaintances in the area. Basically in my area all of the AR, orienteering, biking groups are done for the year.

But look at it this way. It's a great time to reflect, enjoy some solitude and organize yourself for the upcoming Spring. Pamper yourself with a bubble bath or a new hair cut. Spend time on you.

Here's some ideas:

Go to the library and check out some inspiring reads. The sign says quiet, not silent so it's ok to strike up a conversation if you see someone with an interesting book.

Go out for breakfast at your local diner. Sit at the counter it's better for conversation.

Head to the local outdoor shop and ask about trails and groups in your area. Check them out and join in.

Remember, meeting someone who is married or attached doesn't have to be a waste. Invite he/she and his wife for dinner or drinks. Make friends, they will have friends and so on an so on. One of those friends is bound to be single.

I've never been interested in internet dating but know many that have success and enjoy it.

Have at it.
