I was recently in a fish store and it costs a fortune to set up a saltwater tank. I don't know about fresh water ones.

The saltwater fish and anemonies are so beautiful, but you have to make sure the ph is always correct. Having fish is just as much of a responsibility as owning a dog. If you go on vacation or away for a weekend camping trip, etc., someone has to come in and feed them.

I prefer to see saltwater fish in their natural habitat. I used to think they were small fish until I went snorkeling and saw they grow much bigger in their own enviornment.

That is a beautiful tank. Maybe you can sell it on ebay if you don't want to use it. You can make a terrarium out of it.

Congratulations! Winning stuff is cool! I think it'll cost a fortune to maintain it as a fish tank...it is an incredible piece of furniture... me, I think it's Ebay time! Write that it must be picked up...no shipping...you should rake it in with a few, detailed photos and a description that makes people laugh...

I don't think your dog would appreciate you posting that unflattering picture of his ass on the world wide web.

Put ya about two or three rattlesnakes in it with a couple of stinging lizards, a tarantula, and some gecko's. That ought to provide some entertainment.

LMAO....please dont give mike that suggestion! I already told him NO to the pit viper idea.

Its a WHOLE set up, comes even with gravel and decorations. All it needs is the fish. It would make a nice chinchilid tank.

Thats AJ, the pup we adopted earlier in the year. Half beagal, half german shep...and a whole lot of pain in the butt! LOL have to watch this dog, as he is very protective of me. Normally when some one new comes around he wants to kill them for about 10 minutes...after that he loves em for ever. You can bet he has to wear a muzzle when I take him on walks etc...he jksut not like anyone getting close to me, or other dogs. To tell the truth, AJ doesnt like Mike either but puts up with him LOL! He obeys my comands, come, sit, stay, go to bed...but will not listen to mike.

You know, if you put fish in that thing you'll have to clean it every now and then....I got a small (10gal.) one, and it isn't no small task to empty it, scrub it out, etc. then refill it with treated water....on and on and on adinfinitum....

chappy, growing up I had a lot of aquariums...the bigger they are, the easier they are to cleanbelieve it or not. Big aquariums ballence out and you have to change water a lot less often and if you only lightly stock the fish, it stays cleaner period.

PS if you are compleatly emptying out your aquarium, that is unessasary, vaccume the gravel and chang about a 4th of the water ever couple of weeks for a 10 gal.

SC, if you decide to sell it (nice tank!), look into wether you have a Craiglist near you-doesn't cost anything to list for sale, and Craiglist is regional to major cities, so you have local audiences. I use CL all the time to sell stuff :-)

SC: Get a pair of oscars as babies (just two!) They are fantastic fish. I had two for years that grew up to be HUGE... eating size a friend used to tell me. I had them for years. One was red and the other was a tiger. They are affordable because you can buy them as babies and they grow fast and live a long time. Just an idea, but don't plan to keep a lot of other fish in the tank with them. They grow so large and eat fish smaller than they are. It was fun feeding them goldfish.

I say, put it in a nice place and put water in it. with an aquarium, you add fish as you go. you are looking at the one hurdle to starting one. If it came with a pump and filter all you have to do is treat the water. The dog is envisioning Catfish.

I would make a terrarium. Always wanted one (after working at a pet store as a kid). Some cool ferns and a mini-waterfall. A gecko or two the whole shebang.
