I have another friend who did the same thing---got her degree after many years hiatus....

That is a really great accomplishment! (No wonder we saw so little of you this past year!)

My cousin just graduated from MSU with her Teaching certification in Music Education. She was going to skip her commencement, but did it for her mom & dad & sister... :-)

It's too bad you didn't go to the ceremony, but you should be proud of completing the program "your way" and graduating with honors!!

“There is nothing so self-gratifying than to achieve, rise above challenges, and look at the fruit of your labor. Working full or part-time and going to school full or part-time and trying to juggle priorities is literally blood, sweat, and tears. I applaud the people that go back for more (i.e., masters, etc.). After I got my degree, I thought about going back and then thought again! Its frustrating and I know for me personally, it was hard to not have a cynical view of other college students who don't have to work or have a full ride. Being tough and pulling through self-sufficiently is a great thing and there is no shortcut to building character.
