I need to go hiking!

“I haven’t been on the trail since the first weekend in October and need to get out soon or I might loss my mind. It would be nice to finally try out my Granite Gear pack.”

“Tell me about it! There's the Skills trip in Jan...”

“I sympathize. This has been a really bad year for getting out for more than a few hours. We dayhike every weekend, but it's not long enough. Every time something is planned, physical problems interfere. Jim had surgery this summer on his knee - that meant no backpacking for the two months prior and after. Then this fall he fell and broke a rib, then fell again and hurt the other side. I'm starting to wonder. We planned dayhikes tomorrow and Monday, but now he's got stomach flu - guess who's next? We're hoping to go backpacking New Years if the weather isn't too bad but I'm not holding my breath.”

“hiking... hiking... what's that again?”

“I haven't been on a long hike since October, either :(”
