McKenzie bought me a Garmin 60C GPS with a case. Wow, is it an amazing toy. She also bought me a new compass to go with it, guess she wants me to make it home. She also got me some neat little journals with info on the 13 and 14K ft peaks in CO and a yoga set.

Mom bought me a Polartec windpro fleece jacket and hat and the yaktraxx.

I'm also rolling in clothes, money and giftcards, which I think will be converted to software for the Garmin. ;^)”

My wife is an absolute gem, she's learned over the years that I have to try it on, weigh it, plug it into my gear spreadsheet, etc., so she gets me REI giftcards these days. What a winner I have there!”

“Lets see I got some fleece, a Mtn Hardware Goretex hat (I picked it out), Wool socks, a new shirt, a fleece throw for upstairs (it has flyfishermen and trout on it!), money and the best for last an mp3 player. We got my son an ipod, I just wanted a knock off brand. It has a built in FM radio with 20 station presets and weighs a quartet of what the ipods weigh. Guess I was good to somebody!”

No kidding, Treebait!!!! Usually the boys keep them contained in their Lego table. But there seems to always be the lone one that I manage to find with my bare feet.”

actually the best thing was seeing my grandma! she lost her mom and her kitty cat the same week (about a month ago) and i hadn't seen her since then...i was glad to be able to give her a big hug and hang out with her! she is a sweetie-pie, and she cracks me up.

Seems people are worried about me sleeping or being cold outside (where did anyone get the idea I sleep cold?!?!? LOL!) I got Sierra Design down booties and an insulated hood (watch me run around my place dressed like Red Green, teehehee). Also for backpacking I got Sarbar's freezer bag cooking cookbook and related items.

Also got a cool dress watch, a sweater, a crystal bowl and a corkscrew remover (to avoid future incidents of wine on the ceiling when Santa is around!! >8-O LOL)”

My wife thinks we run a backpackers hostel here sometimes. We have our "regulars" stop by when they are in the area (isn't that correct Liz?) and have some drinks and meals as we listen to where everyone's been and make plans for future trips and such.

This backcountry travel thing is truly a lifestyle, not a "hobby".”
