Mackinac Island vs. Apostle Islands
I am planning my honeymoon to either Mackinac Island or the Apostle Islands. I have been to Mackinac once before, but never to Apostle. I'm not sure where the best place would be to go. If anyone has been to both places, can you please give me your advice. You can e-mail me at: jdowd@wi.rr.com. Thanks!

Are you backpacking, getting outdoors a lot, camping, bicycling, kayaking? Or staying in the hotel room a lot? ;-) LOL!

Give us an idea what you're looking for... and best of luck to you!

if you are honeymooning, you may wanna hit that stuff hard on a soft bed. Mackinac would be the place to do that. If ya wanna break him/her in right, go to the Apostles.

In 1978, I honeymooned camping in the Apostle Islands with no regrets. We had Outer Island entirely to ourselves the second night we were there. That night, the Aurora Boreilis filled the entire sky from overhead to the horizon until sunrise.

They are so different! Mackinac Island is a tourist destination..lots of fudge shops, hotels, historical sights, the Grand Hotel with it's incredible porch and interesting plumbing (Probably updated by now..LOL)..

The Apostles would be an outdoor experience..you would be camping in whatever weather and bugs Mother Nature would give you at the time...tell us the month of your honeymoon...your best choice may be depend on that...

They are both great. Mackinac Island is more of a hotel-camping place but there are some great B&Bs there. Apostle Islands is also great and I would no be the least bit shocked if there are some fantastic B&Bs there as well or cabins that one could rent that would make for a fantastic honeymoon. It all depends on what you and your new spouse want to do with your time.

To give you some more information, the honeymoon will be next July 2006. We would probably stay in a hotel or B&B. We both enjoy camping, but I don't think my new wife will want to do it on our honeymoon. And we will probably do a lot of biking, hiking, and picture-taking. We would also be interested in doing some kayaking. We also want to find out which island (Mackinac or Apostle) offers the best nightlife and/or restaurants. Send me your votes on which island I should pick and tell me your reasons why! Thank you.

From the info you provided, there is no debate. You want to go to Mackinac.
