Twas the night before Christmas and all through San Quentin,
the crips were protesting, and liberals were ventin'.

The cyanide hung by the chamber wth care, in hopes that the reaper soon would be there.

The inmates were nestled all snug in bed ;
except for Old Tookie, who was soon to be dead.

And me with my beer mug, dressed warm in my flannell, had curled up to watch it, on the Fox News Channel.

I set up my TIVO to record the news station, and thoroughly loved the momentous occasion.

It seemed lady justice had gotten her way, and that there would be one less savage today.

When outside the jail there arose such a clatter, the cameras had turned to see what was the matter.

When what to my civilized eyes did appear, but a lineup of actors, all liberal, half queer.

The misguided freaks drew some curious looks, as they proclaimed his innocence; clutching his books.

The tears then dribbled from Sarandon's eyes, as she nominated him again for the Nobel Peace Prize.

The actors were tethered to an ACLU sleigh, all towing the line of the urban decay.

On Asner, on Penn, on liberal cop-haters,
On Sharpton, on Jesse and other race-baiters.

Then at 3:01 all curled up like a beetle, Tookie cried like a #&%!$ as they gave him the needle.

When up from the actors there arose such a cry, they had failed in their mission, and Tookie DID DIE !!

I heard Bill O'Reilly say, as I turned out my light, Merry Christmas to all ... there was justice tonight !!

it was fcking lame, wanderer. one doesnt need to be an extremist to see that. it was clunky, and full of predictable stereotypes. but then, you probably think mallard fillmore is funny and insightful too

actually, it wasnt funny. putting political rhetoric to rhyme isnt poetry, either.

btw, im not coming at this from a political angle, im judgin its artistic merits. i was an english major in college, and i just happen to hate bad, unfunny, political poetry.

for something to be funny, there has to be a clever turn of phrase, or an element of the unexpected, or sometimes someone saying the things we're thinking but no one saying. that "poem" had none of those elements. you just like it cuz its liberal-bashing, admit it.

And I was coming at it from another angle... it made me laugh, artistic merits be-damned!

BTW, If you were an English major, how'd you end up w such a lousy job? I saw your post on SC's thread about your income... at the least you could become a teacher, we NEED more good teachers!

And I don't mean to say, at all, that teaching isn't an honerable profession when I say "at least", it's just that teaching doesn't pay well.

"artistic merits be-damned!"

thats for sure

"how'd you end up w such a lousy job?" i dont have the accreditation for teaching. i was trying to get into the publishing industry. while looking for a "real" job, i took a factory job, then a job at verizon making "real" money, but i hated the job and when they offered me a buyout i took it, hiked the AT, had to start over with my career-track, and now im saving money so i can get some schooling to teach english as a second language

You should move to California. "English as a second language" is HUGE, as you might imagine, plus we have the best backpacking in North America.

i would love to move to california or colorado. however, my mother is recently widowed and im an only child, so i kind of feel tied to indiana

And you will later on be thankful that you did the right thing & stayed w your Mom. There's plenty of time to get out here... plus, I'm sure you'll end up w a vacation here & there which will allow you to escape for awhile!

Do you mean that all that "ugly political-baiting diatribe" is more than just plain, old trivia?

trivia is "who is the president of mgumgobbawe?" or "what is the largest species of flying kangaroo"

You were making light of the post and so was I, perhaps in a less significant manner. I consider all trolling material to be trival, at least, when used for that purpose. Also, the passage itself is trival, since it has beeen around a while. (It could be called old hat or small beer.) A google search turned up many versions. Which version is quoted here, I don't know.

That, "dont read it," logic is a two-way street! And when you copy something, it's nice to be polite and give a credit.
