Anyone Get Good Christmas Gifts?

“I guess the closest thing to a Christmas gift I got was a good campfire last night and a little keychain UV light my son gave me that I don't know what to do with it.”

“Let's see... some cool tent stakes that I just know Matahari would be envious of (heck, she prolly has some). They are gnomes and pink flamingos!!! LOL! Some wonderful Peeps stuff (now WHO woulda sent THAT???!? lol) Liquor and chocolate stuff!!!!! Some fun PJs. A Maine lobster ornament (now WHO woulda sent THAT?!?!?) Some towels. A cool book by a local author that I never got around to on my own. Toasty warm Under Armour top and bottom. Some insulated boots to go with the snowshoes I got for my b-day -- They're too small and will need to go back. Am debating them, too, cuz I do have Vasque Arctic insulated boots already.

Oh and I got to discover the joys of excellently made brisket for Christmas Eve dinner. Yum! ;-)”

I have been griping that my hiking boots are falling apart, and have been hiking in my 2000 gram thinsulate 10" gore-tex/leather hunting boots for almost 4 months. Can you say sweat box?

“My wife bought me the Johnny Cash 4 disk The Legend CD set, a small three bottle sampler of the three Bushmills Irish Whiskeys, some nice colognes, a kewl Disturbed sock hat, and a bunch of other stuff. My wonderful mother in law gave me a cast aluminum skillet for paddle camping and a pair of those binoculars that you can take digital pictures with.

One of the best ones was one of those picture frames you download pictures and music into.”

“Bummed! Our fisrt Christmas with out all my kids. My oldest daughter moved to Tulsa in Oct. We really miss her. We had her on the phone with us while we opened presents though. That was the best part for me.
I got a $150.00 gc to REI. A mini mag light,spice rack, new fireplace tool set, Logans Roadhouse gc and a fog machine for our outdoor parties. ;) Not to shabby.:p”

Nigal, I got one of those digital picture frames too. New Sporthill jacket and pants for XC skiing. Very nice!

My parents got me a Pendleton blanket. Nice roll up blanket, lined with cordura on one side. Great car blanket for emergency or picnics. Funniest thing was that I got my parents Pendleton blankets. Very cool throw designs that go in their Southwest house, but have a Northwest inspired theme. Great minds think alike.

New JJ Cale/Eric Clapton, Los Lobos and Sonia Dada CD's.

I also learned that I hate itunes. Three new ipods in the house, two itunes gift cards. 4 computers with itunes loaded. ipods can only sync with one library, songs scattered among four computers. arggghh... I think my head will explode.”

“Well, I'm a little late but have been busy. I got a HUGE roll away tool box for my shop, new smell good, and a altimiter watch with atomic time keeping and solar charging.
My wife got a white gold necklace with a diamond cross pendant, smell good and a loaded '06 Honda Pilot.
The best time of all over the hollidays though, was taking my 13 year old son and his best friend to a skatepark in Montgomery while I was visiting him. He talked me into getting on one (it's been 20 years but I used to skate alot) and we had the best time, he did'nt know his old man could skate on a halfpipe. At one point this kid came up to me and asked how old I was and when I told him I was 40 he said "you're so cool, I wish my dad would skate with me." Needless to say my son thought it was cool too. Well hope all of you had safe Hollidays and I hope to see some of you on the trail this year.

My honey grew his out into a ponytail refusing to cut it until they caught bin laden. You can't tell how long it is because it is sooooo curly. He doesn't comb it over, he pulls it back. I love him, still looks good to me :O) I want them to catch bin laden, I just don't want to lose his ponytail. lol”

“I've been through like three of the small LED headlamps and I mean the name brand ones. They all broke or burned out. I have a Petzl Solo that is like 10 years old and the thing is still going strong with the LED insert but I wanted something stronger than an LED for night paddling and hiking.

I can't tell you how many times I've had a Jetboil in my hands but thought, "It's just too much.", and put it back. congrats on a great gift!”

“I just have an ordinary off the rack at Wal-Mart LED headlamp, (Energizer), and I had to use it for unexpected night hiking on the PCT. It worked all right. I did have to stop and put new batteries in it, but that was expected and I had extra batteries packed because of it. It was a great trip, my myspace friend Stacey blogged it well. I mostly blogged the pics and feeling.

My daughter knew I wanted the Jetboil for months, especially w/the coffeepress. $89 isn't so bad, especially when split between two kids. I AM blessed!”

“I had one of the Energizer ones and the first time I used it was in August and we were night hiking in and I sweat so much the sweat seeped into the innards of the lamp and ruined it. i sweat real heavy though.”

“Hmmmmmmm, where were you hiking that it was so hot at night? I haven't been that sweaty yet. I also like to wear my headlamp over a hat to keep the light out of my eyes.”

“I got a backpack camera bag with attachments to haul my tripod...nifty nifty when hiking to out of the way waterfalls.”

“I'm in Ohio. The hat thing would work for me but it's too hot to wear a hat when I hike unless it's winter. I have to drink about a gallon a day to keep up with the sweating.”
