In addition. Yes Crash, Rescue refered to Rescue in the third person. Rescue feels it is more appropriate than "him" when dealing with issues that directly affect Rescue and Rescue's plans. :-P J/K Mate.”

I have been authorized for the permit, but unfortunately I miscalculated the cost. I am sending the additional money for the permit monday. I have 4 spots open, but am in touch with a number of people regarding those spots. Please email me if you want to be put on the list.”

“btw, you guys should reserve a couple of sites at mather campground for sunday night. theres a 3-tent, 2-car limit per site, so thats why youll probably need two”

“Thanks Crash, I wasn't sure if that was pre-permit acceptance. But it does look like it's the "real" ininerary. I'll go with that and start working on time off and babysitting. Hope it all falls into place.
Anyone staying in a hotel on the rim on Sunday night? Mather campground can be freezing with snow, I'd rather stay in a warm bed after a 14 hour drive, kinda starts the trip out better for me.”

“i imagine whatever motels are nearby will be expensive. all of our group will be arriving on saturday, staying in various accomodations that night, then camping sunday night. but you guys do whatever works best for you.”

“Actually rooms can be had for as little as 55 bucks (for 1/2 bath) and 67.00 for a room with a shower. I've stayed at the Maswik a few times, it's not the ritz, but accomidations are fine.”

“No, right on the rim at the Bright Angel lodge. I've packed six people into an 87.00/two queen bed room on the rim before. Heck that's less the 15 bucks per person.
I've stayed in the campground on the rim before in January, it was not a pleasant experience, mainly because I wasn't prepared to camp in those conditions. It was in the low 20's and snowing. March may be different, but I have also been in the GC in April while it was freezing and snowing. So if you're camping be prepared as if you were winter snow camping at 8,000 feet.
If you want to look up accomidations on the Rim check out www.zanterra.com. The Bright Angel Lodge has the best rates right now.”

“I'm starting a dedicated transportation thread linked to the trips page. This will make it easier for people to find rides and such, I hope.”

“hey rescue, we need to treat this like 2 separate groups (which we are) that are hiking so that park service does not cancel our trips”

“we dont want it getting back to park service that we are all from the same forum, so lets keep this on the down-low, shall we? i want to stress that these are two completely autonomous groups, with myself as an organizer and resuce9 as another organizer. each group is handling its own transport, accomodations, reservations, and everything else. nobody from either group knows each other, and we are not workig or hiking together. we'll bump into each other, im sure, but it will be by coincidence and not planned.”

In addition, since we are the only ones without rides, it will be much easier for us to plan transportation.”

can someone please let me know if this is the usual driving route to our starting point? -anyone coming out of vegas would go through Boulder city, down 93 to Kingman, 40 to Williams, then up to the park??
is anyone planning on going through/flying into Flagstaff?”

“How many TT's in Phx area?? Summa you I ain't yet met, but that just might change shortly. Looking great that our next home will be Luke, 'bout July er so. As it stands now, better than 90%. So we are stoked! The FurShur will come in a month or 2, so if that comes thru, I'll be asking for a To Do list of hikes in AZ from somebody. I'll also begin getting AZ Hwys mag then too, nachurly. If that time comes, I'll trade your info, for say a bottle of Brunello or something, sound good?
