New Year Challenge for Everyone!
I just realized that I put in 40 hours this year in trail construction and maintenance! It really added up and the benefits were fulfilling and rewarding in seeing what gets accomplished. I'm not saying this to brag, but to challenge everyone who loves hiking and hates fallen trees, briars, washouts, and any other hinderances that make hiking difficult. Remember:"Many hands make light work". Thanks to all those who did help out. Let's have a great year hiking!!!

Oh you're new, I thought Stovey changed his name.

And I agree with you.

I'm debating setting up an event for National Trails Day, which is Saturday, June 3. We don't have a big hiking contingency around here, so I think I would focus on getting people out and trying to have a trails fair, possibly at an area state park. (Don't want to scare away people you want to TRY out hiking by putting them to work on trails they don't even appreciate!)

Here's good info for planning!

My resolution will be to find time to help the Cumberland Trail Association next year.

I find myself removing things from the trail during almost every hike. I try to leave the trail a little cleaner and safer for those who follow. However, I seldom do anything major or requiring heavy labor outside of removing some medium to large branches.
