Big Thicket National Preserve
i am new to backpacking and have only done one day hikes and whatnot. i was just wondering if anyone has been to big thicket to backpack and if it is good for a beginner. what are some other good places for beginners to start that are in the south

Hey Colby
I live about 40 min from the big thicket. email me and we'll get together. Plus there is the Lone Star Hiking Trail 100 miler, just next door. I've hiked on the trails of the Big Thicket. There are more around here too you need to know about. A friend of mine, a Bryan cop and I just got back from a 20 miler on the LSHT this last week. Check out the 'view new albums' under the pics for 'Chappy and ET's busted 50 miler'
