Pisgah forest, Moore Cove and John Rock Day Hike.
Back From DJIBOUTI.....

So, We started the New Year the right way... Hung over and Hiking.... Hope enjoy the report.

We did a small hike in the morning (0.7 miles to Moore Cove Falls), it made us feel much better (After the New Years eve yuck), so we then took off on a 2.5 mile up hike to the top of John Rock. The veiw is fantastic and the pictures here just do not do it justice....

The above four pictures are from Moore Cove, Pisgah Forest. It is a very large overhang with a water fall. Some of them are taken from the edge of the cliff at the top. It should be a good place to go in mid Feb. The ice that forms after many cold days will be beautiful.

These Four are from Looking Glass Falls. It is know as the most photographed waterfall in North Carolina. They are easily accessible and Really beautiful. I suggest going during the summer so that you can go swimming in the deep pool at the bottom at the bottom of the falls. The spray that comes off of the water is very strong and cool (Kinda freaking cold in the winter).

The pictures above and below are from a place in the Pisgah Forest called John Rock. The first picture shows John Rock from the parking lot. The trail is 2.5 miles up to the summit. We went up at quite a fast pace. We didn't really plan on doing any five mile trips, and we were starting late. On the way up, we weren't sure if we would have time to do the whole thing. We knew that we would hit a trail intersection at the 1.5 mile mark. When we hit that, we knew we were good. We had enough time to summit and spend a little time soaking up the last rays of the setting sun.

The Veiw is outstanding. You get a side veiw of looking glass mountain and some of the higher peaks near Graveyard feilds in the back.

And anyone who knows me, knows that I love being an idiot....

Beaver boy..... Too funny. ;
