The Romney event helped keep union employees paid; in more ways than one.

Ford Field is a union shop.

It's also pretty symbolic of his campaign.

The event was even used as fodder during a conversation I had with a friend of mine how has a HUGE bro crush on this DB for years.

Thanks, Willard!

Americer has already fallen and can't getup. The only true supply and demand for biz anymore has been replaced by the demand for more lobbyist money by congress, which drives up supply by the Chamber of Commerce Lobbyist's Supply.

We are bouncing along the bottom with a threat of deflation, but since biz owns all, they can raise prices at will on the ordinary citizen and defy all Supply and Demand rules , while they make record profits, but they want even more than the greatest (R)(Obama) president in history can offer.

Real Estate figures of today prove the above.

Gotta disagree with you there, Strat. I think this whole false sense of peril that comes with every election causes so much unnecessary stress and unhappiness. I remember when half the country thought we were gonna fall apart when Bush was elected (then reelected). Before that, Clinton was gonna drive us into the crapper. Before that, Sr. Bush. It never happens. We soldier on in mediocrity - never too rich to be content, nor too poor to be hopeless. Each election, we turn out in droves to elect the person who will totally definitely super seriously change it all but the change never happens and never will.

the truth of the matter is, R or D, these people's only true goal is to maintain the status quo which, sadly, means bowing to their lobbyists and ignoring the rest of us. With the exception of that ridiculous 1% difference that seems to decide every election (abortion, gay rights, who's jesus is bigger), a R president and a D president will make all the exact same decisions with the exact same results. Your kids will probably be no better or worse off than you are - then your parents were and their parents before. Every four years we think the nation will fall apart when the wrong guy gets elected and every elected official does just as poorly as his counterpart would have. That's politics. Once you realize that you really don't have any power in the process and that it doesn't matter who wins in the end anyways, you'll find that life is a lot easier. Get out, hit a trail and grab some bag nights... to hell with politics!

Except your wrong, pepsis. Current middle class generations are worse off than their parents. They're slipping, getting dragged down the economic slide. They make less than their parents, less own houses, etc. The quality of life in America is deteriorating for your average person. And maybe it needs to in order for change to come about.
roseymonster
9:40:03 AM
3/21/12

but, say you're right... how will that change be enacted? Every presidential candidate comes in talking about how much he's gonna change things, and how he's an honest stand-up guy - but none of them are. in the end, you're voting for whichever corrupt career politician feigns honesty best...

and I really don't know that the quality of life is degenerating that much for middle-class families when every middle class kid has an iphone and most have their own cars. I think we're just spending more and consequentially suffering. That's not to say that economically this country isn't in a downturn... but economics works in large cycles and the man in office has very little actual control over that... and even if he had the power to fix it, his lobbyists are the ones who really run the show anyways
FepsisPormosa
9:46:23 AM
3/21/12

dunno... I mean, I know there's economic hardship, but I think a lot of it is self-inflicted. It's too easy to get credit and take out loans so people end up completely underwater and suffering for it. When my folks wanted to buy a TV, my dad worked an extra shift for a month or they threw change in a jar or something... People don't live within their means anymore

Pepsis, I agree. There is a lot of irresponsible decision making going on from the general public. America is full of greed from a tv generation saturated with advertising that promotes inadequacy. That's part of it. But again, I think people also are no longer able to attain the lifestyle of their parents, so they are sinking in debt. Boomers investments crapped the bed and so they have to keep working, occupying positions. No one is moving up. No new positions are opening. Consequently, personal economics are stagnating for younger generations (x, y, millenials) while cost of living increases. Sure, people needs to lower their expectations but that doesn't negate that quality of life is dropping for younger generations and those previously in a solid middle class setting are falling into a lower class in greater abundance. It's a scary trend. What does it mean for those in the lower classes? They will have an even more dificult time digging out and there at going to be a lot more of them.

eh, I admit the Bush years could've gone better (and personally, I always thought he and Cheney were particularly foul bags of excrement), but I don't buy into the "WTC wouldn't have happened under Gore" train of thought - and the financial collapse was decades in the making... the bottom just fell out during the Bush years. That said, I never would've voted for him and was indeed particularly sad when he won (twice).

Anyways, I'm off to the Grand :-) seeya guys later!

Pepsi, they got you right where they want you. Apathetic, lethargic, hopeless, distracted. Snap out of it, wake up.
Rosey's right. Everything sucks! The progressives on both sides have led you here. Now what? Capichulate? Give up? Go hiking? Geesh, what a bunch of pu$$ies!
Obama meant it when he said they were going to fundamentally transform America. They've been building a machine while you were out hiking and now they're going to turn the machine on. What will you tell your grandkids when they ask you why you stood by and let them take your freedom, your liberty, your
balls?
If Romney wins, it will buy us a little time. Small consolation but were gonna need it.
Have a nice day now....

Then what is the answer? — Not to be deluded by dreams.
To know that great civilizations have broken down into violence, and their tyrants come, many times before.
When open violence appears, to avoid it with honor or choose the least ugly faction; these evils are essential.
To keep one's own integrity, be merciful and uncorrupted and not wish for evil; and not be duped
By dreams of universal justice or happiness. These dreams will not be fulfilled.
