I just found out about a position in Kalispell. Not sure I can make it happen at this stage in my life, but who knows.

However, as I was checking out the job postings, I saw that they are also advertizing for 2 park ranger positions. Anyone want it?

Only the best for this board!

I'll give the spiders 30 day notice that they have to move out.

I would take it in a second, but I think the move would be very tough on Barbie.

Plus, I would be taking a mammoth pay cut and besides that, I don't have the degree they are asking for.

"...long, irregular hours, often doing heavy physical labor in adverse weather conditions. Weekend and evening work will be required....Must be able to work under stressful conditions and may be confronted by persons in possession of firearms and other weapons."

Right up a lot of people's alleys around here!

But, would you qualify? and, from talking to other National Park rangers it is a very hierarchical and political job that requires a very thick skin to cope. I beleive, BearCrossing could tell you more about the demands required by the job.

Education/Experience:
A Bachelors Degree in Parks and Outdoor Recreation, Natural Resource Management, Biological, Natural or Earth Sciences, Forestry, Range Management, Archeology, or other closely related subjects pertinent to the management of park areas and protection of natural resources; and one year of experience that is directly related and which has equipped the candidate with the particular skills, knowledge and abilities to perform the duties of the position. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

I have an AAS degree in parks and recreation management, this is about the type of job I might be looking for in several years, not right now though.

A bachelors degree for a $13 an hour job?? Is the cost of living really low in Montana?
