I missed the boat on this one!

Seems like I just heard about Tina Scheer being on the show, then talking about it with some co workers yesterday, found out she was the first one voted off! She has a Lumberjack show on the way to Acadia and I stopped to see it once. Excellent show! She's no wimp by any means.

It seems like they're following the tradition of voting the oldest white woman off first, and this time, probably also the person most likely to be able to survive.

They oughta give immunity for actually contributing to the survival of the group, not for their stupid contests. They should change the name of the program to "High school cliques get transplanted into the wild".

that one guy Shane I think is a freakin head case. They should have voted him off last night after he asked everyone to do it. Then to out right let people know you have an alliance set-up already and the rest of you are gone.
I feel for the one guy who is joining the group. He is probably thinking WTF is going on with that head case...lol

That guy joining the group will change the dynamics. I don't think the alliance will hold because you're right, Shane's a headcase.

i hope they never vote that chick (is it misty or danielle?) with the excellent hooters off.

Recommended strategy for the three not in the alliance:

1 - Don't do anything around camp but nap, eat, and drink.
2 - When the time comes to compete for the next reward, simply sit down when Jeff says "Go!"
3 - Compete like crazy for immunity; win it; then repeat from Step 1.

I'm with Cydeee - last time Cerie was brilliant in getting rid of Tina (very stupid move but done so well) and then when she had the slightest threat from the guys she folded. I think she and Melinda (?) could have easily turned two others to unload the head case (although he is a kick to watch).

As far as Danielle's hooters - do you guys really find that attractive???? I have never understood that. They look like they would leave a dent in you if you got too close, if you know what I mean....

So who here filters water through their t-shirt? What the hell? Then again, hiker funk could just about kill anything, so this just might be the next best lightweight filtering system. Maybe they ought to try their using their socks next time. Sheesh.

Misty never saw it coming. I think that naval aviator guy is kinda cute. The black guy is not bad either.

Ok, you could filter your water through a shirt, but not purify it.

CD - dani asked me that question. i wasn't watching. I think the dude said if you filter it through three t-shirts together than its "clean".

F*in moron. Hope they all get violently ill and kill him. LOL!

Any pictures of the hooter chick?

Is she worth watching the show?

Yeah, the guy said he has been "teaching" backpacking for 19 years. I wonder if any of his students are still alive today. If they all get sick, he is definately getting voted off.

I did feel sorry for him trying to sleep on Exile Island in the rain storm without any shelter. That would suck. It didn't look like there was much to build a shelter with either.

Somebody showed up on the Les Stroud forum and asked if filtering water through a tee shirt would remove 90 percent of the germs.

I lived in American Samoa when I was a kid about 100 years ago. Back then we had to boil our water and wash our fruits and vegtables in iodine. The parasites you can pick up in the tropics are wicked! I seriously doubt that a t-shirt, no matter how rank, would remove much of anything, except maybe debris.

The Tee shirt thing does work, but you have to make sure you pee on the shirt first. ;-)

Apparently filtering through a saree can reduce many microbes. The weave is intense. But we're talking about very poor Indians here with very few options.

...It is common practice in villages in Bangladesh to use cloth, frequently a flat, unfolded piece of an old sari, to filter home-prepared drinks. In laboratory experiments employing electron microscopy, we found that inexpensive sari cloth, folded four to eight times, provides a filter of 20-µm mesh size, small enough to remove all zooplankton, most phytoplankton, and all V. cholerae attached to plankton and particulates >20 µm. Laboratory studies showed that sari cloth folded at least four times retained the V. cholerae cells attached to plankton, effectively removing >99% (>2 logs) of V. cholerae (30). Nylon net with a mesh size of 150 µm was also successfully used in this study to compare its effectiveness in preventing cholera because it has been used to remove cyclops from drinking water. Cyclops is a crustacean copepod common in Africa and carrier of the guinea worm larvae that causes dracunculiasis (31, 32)...

they (the survivors) are staying on?
(It is not "exile") OR the name of the Island that was used before, in a previous season of "Survivor" ? Thanks.

that was a great move by the other team. I think they saw that the guys were banding together and this was how to break it up.
