“mebbee...(when was I to Tennessee before?? LOL!) Never count me in on a trip till I check out all kindsa tangible and intangible things.

Am debating a bigger spring trip and maybe a couple small spring trips now. Might happen really early. Might be as late as Easter. Right now I'm waiting to find out if a friend can go... and if jet fares and/or gas prices are affordable. I've got a bunch of work stuff -- and lucrative extra work stuff (thank goodness!) -- to schedule around, also.

Lotsa "iffies" yet. But I do like Big South Fork. :-) Don't know, **IF** I'd go if I'd try to drive to CB's and maybe car pool (or somewhere closer), or fly into Nashville.

“I thought this trip looked good for Memorial Day weekend, but, unfortunately, I have to cover a number of vet's ceremonies on Monday -- Memorial Day. I think our vets and readers really appreciate that...

So I've come to taking Friday off, to make my own 3-day weekend! lol, but that doesn't work with anyone else for a group trip.”

“ill firm up the route as the date gets closer. i have several other trips between now and then i also have to plan, including the grand canyon and a hiker feed in georgia, so forgive me if the details are sketchy right now. its still 3 months away

“hey CB, is this still a go for Easter Weekend or are you doing it over Memorail Day Weekend. You still have both trips up.

I just did this hike last weekend. We started at the Leatherford Road Trailhead. The O&W trestle is the opposite direction from the campsite you mentioned by the river. We did the climb up to do the Grand Gap Loop. We had to camp on a ATV road because we couldn't find a spot big enough for all of us. There is no water on top so you will have to carry water with you.

“Wach you talkin' bout?! Theres all kinds of places up there to camp.

Now the water. The only spots are the little seep spring as you come up from the river from LeatherWOOD ford just past the rock house. Then the creek about a half mile down the Fall Branch trail.

That road takes you all the way to Bandy Creek and you can drive your car to Grand Gap loop. Done it several times.

Did you see the little Smith grave right by the trail? There are some very nice large areas there to camp.”

“sticks, we hiked Grand Loop the other direction so the one campsite was almost back to where you head back down. Plus we needed a spot for 10 tents. Yeah we saw the grave site. It has been well taken care off.”

there are some campsites about 2 miles north of leatherwood ford road, by the bsf river and near fall branch. we will hike to there the first day and set up camp for both nights, and dayhike the grand gap loop the second day, and hike out the third day. total mileage approximately 17 miles. breakfast at oneida huddle house to follow on monday morning”

“Currahee, I was just up there a few weeks ago. It is a very easy trail. There is only one climb abd that will be with day packs The only part I didn't do and that is from the O & W Trestle to Leatherwood Ford Road”
