Gotcha!

You're impressed with the sound of your own voice, bearmagnet. That isn't a vibe, its obviously true.

Coffee house? Bwaaaaaahahahahaha.

I've got so many books here, and available at the public library, only someone like you could come up with something like that.

You're not cute here, bearmagnet. In this discussion, you come off like a sarcastic creep.

You're wrong, bearmagnet. To explain yourself would have been polite. Something you seem not to care about as well.

bearmagnet, I believe arclite was addressing violin. Perhaps you listen like you read; seeing and hearing what you want to rather than what is. Food for thought.

BTW, I haven't read any of this thread except the last three posts. I followed arclite in here. :o)

Ok, let me correct myself. The last four posts I've read. Crash Bang snuck in before I finished my post. :)

I am sarcastic. And you come off as a pretentious a-hole. So I still think you go to coffee houses in an attempt to impress.

I have to explain myself, in detail, to anyone who asks in order to be "Polite"?

I'll try to keep that in mind. Let me try here:

I like Green more than Orange. The wavelength is far more pleasurable to my optic nerves and gives me a tingly feeling inside.

I feel Orange doesn't really try hard enough, as a wavelength, to please my sensory receptors.

Holy crap! I was so busy posting that I didn't realize that arclite posted again. I thought you snuck in front of me but so did arclite. So, I can count even if I can't read. :o)

Sunshine, YOU'RE cute.

Actually, I'm teasing violin (as always), and ragging on bearmagnet for being a putz.

Bearmagnet, from what I can tell of your writings, I am unimpressed with this idea of “freethinking.”

You make a proclamation:

“I like Asimov over Rand. As a writer, an intellect, and a free thinker.”

Obviously you seem to believe that others care what you think.

I ask you to define what you mean.

You become defensive and evasive.

When I press you, you tell me that:

"I have no desire to explain myself to you in depth here. Why should I? To do so would require an effort on my part. In other words, I would have to care what you thought.”

Apparently we were brought up with a different value system. Most of Ayn Rand’s philosophy doesn’t conflict with my value system. Are you an example of this "freethinking" stuff? I was taught that it is polite to answer someone when they ask you a question.

If anyone is sickly selfish, it is the person who won’t bother to help his fellows:
1. When they ask for help.
2. It is something that doesn’t hurt you to do.

What? And you won’t help me to understand because it is too much work for you to think? How sad for you.

My guess is that you don’t know what you’re talking about when you compare Azimov to Rand.

And that you’re offended because I’ve called you on it. That, bearmagnet, is some pretty sick stuff.

Is this thread worth reading to find out how this pissing match started?

There are few people on TT that I give the benefit of the doubt in nearly everything they say. I can tell when someone is intelligent and when they are simply trying to impress. Normally the later does this by presenting endless cut and pastes. Arc falls in the first. It’s a rare commodity when someone is as smart as he is and has a sense of humor to boot. When Arc talks, people should listen.

OK, anyone else here wanna bow job? Heehee!

Just to add; Arc is, however, full of crap when it comes to football.

I am truly flattered, Nigal. Coming from you, I consider that high praise.

Careful now, you'll swell my head and I'll be called an egotist...
...oops, too late!

I worry sometimes, on the internet, about being blunt without the tone of voice and facial expressions. I think that sometimes gives the impression that I’m being “confrontational.” And I don’t come off that way nearly as much in person. I shut my mouth a lot in person.

I think the impression of confrontation turns enough folks off that I sometimes don’t get the information I would wish. “You catch more flies with honey.” And I really do enjoy a good conversation.

I’m glad that you like my sense of humor. It can be a little rough at times. I think anyone from NJ understands the dysfunctional environment in which I was brought up. I do love satire and absurdity. A lot of the guys down south here wanted to kill me before they got to know me. I think some of my humor is an acquired taste.

But you know me pretty well. I had a lot of fun jumping all over you about hunting when I first got here. You probably wanted to kill me too.

Whaaat? I like Michigan so I don't know squat about football? Maybe you're right, Nigal, maybe you're right.

I haven't talked much with you, Sarge, but I've seen some of your posts and I think I'd usually take your advice.

But what is this deal with bearmagnet? I've seen some posts where I thought he was a pretty good guy.

I just haven't been involved, lately, with a lot of the threads enough to get to know some folks better...

...but I always get involved when I know it's violin who has dredged up an old thread from the past just to yank my crank.

He's good at it too (arclite doing his best funky chicken dance with stir the pot motions).

I won't try to influence negatively how you feel about him.

That's probably a good idea, Sarge.

I can get VERY confrontational with those whom I think have absolutely no business taking up the planet's resources.

But I'm workin' on that.
