well i guess it was a matter of time. we found a sweet dog. Her name is Susie (I hate that name but she has been throu enough so i will not change it).
She was a stray. It is funny because I feel in love with her on Jan 4th when she was brought in. But she was adopted within a fews days. Then last Fri after my shift i heard a dog barking non stop. I went to see if I could calm the pooch down when I was blown away to see susie in the cage. Well I called treebeard and asked if we could at least foster her for the weekend. yeah right!
I knew as soon as everyone got to meet her she would be ours :)
So she is a cock-a-pooh
half cockerspanle and poodle stand.
she is all black but with one white paw and a white spot on her chest.
she is five years old and is fully house broken. in fact she is trained in everything. sit stay fetch...I love it!!

ADOPT A SHELTER PET!!

so her is our little girl

Congratulations Mapleleaf. There's nothing like a new pet to make your day/month/year. I had to put down our ten year old JRT a couple of weeks ago, and this house is wayyyy empty. I adopted him from a rescue group in Oklahoma 6 years ago, and he's been an amazing animal. I'm looking forward to getting another dog soon.

oh hobbit i am so sorry to hear that. I was worried about her age. but if she stays healthy she will be around for a good 10 years. I am very lucky because I can take her to the vet any time she needs it. heck i can get her groomed for free too. i love working at a shellter :)

Did your inability to housebreak Treebeard have anything to do with getting a dog that's already trained?

Mapleleaf
Our dog is 15+. Vet calls her "our miracle dog." Can't believe she's still alive and in decent health for all she's been through.

Not to scare you, but I think we bought the vet's house! :-)

BTW Congrats & have fun with your new child.

Cute Geo!!

Very cute doggie Mapes! I agree that rescued dogs rule!!!

If anyone is looking for dogs of a certain breed, there are breed specific rescue places to get them. Just an FYI.

Both mine are 'rescue' dogs. The Jack Russel with his back to you was from a crime scene where a guy killed his whole family and we didn't know what to do with the dog, so I took him home.......his name is (approriately) Hamlet, a victim of tragedy.........Ralphie, on the other hand is a Toy Fox we got at a shelter.

My friends have their neighbor's dog from a similar situation. The mom was severely depressed and committed suicide, but felt the need to take her daughter with her. Horrible. But Pepper loves living at my friend's house with her buddy Poppy.
I like mutt doggies. Susie looks sweet. (and happy to have a home.)

Funny she looks like she has one of those old school Christie McNichol hairdos. LOL!

Long lost sisters?

we just had to rush susie to the vet hospital. she stopped eating 4 days ago and not pooped.
we came home tonight and she was flat out on the floor not moving. she has to stay in the hospital for 1-3 days. im freaking out right now. we have to call tonight at 11:30pm to find out what is going on. i swear if it ends up being only an enima (sp) then it will end up being the most exspensive(sp) one in the history of dogs

she wonder into our lives only 7 months ago but she JUMPED right into our hearts right away.

please say a doggy pray for her.
