looking for gear patterns “Does anyone have any links to websites with good make it yourself gear patterns? Thanks” 4:12:45 PM 1/26/06 “Here is a fav of mine. I am setting up to do a project almost exectly like this, just for the hell of it. I am not good at sewing and my wife says that silnylon has a few tricks in terms of working with it. Lots of good tips out there, however. http://thru-hiker.com/workshop.asp?subcat=3&cid=4 Also, this isn't a "pattern" but if you are into stoves, http://zenstoves.com has good templates for cutting out cans. last edited: 1/26/06 4:37:00 PM” 4:36:33 PM 1/26/06 “There is a pattern company for clothing and some packs too. GreenPepper. You can find their patterns at the fabric store. I've made a fleece jacket and I've seen hats, gaitors, running tights, long underwear, daypacks, hip packs, fishing vests....saddle pads, horse blankets :-) I'm sure there is also a website” 4:46:57 PM 1/26/06 4:54:51 PM 1/26/06 homemade pack “Two years ago I made this this modified version of the G4 pack(#2 under backpacks on the left). It weighs 1-1/2 lbs. It's the only pack I use anymore. Not made for carrying more than 22-24 lbs, but it is very comfortable if I stay under 24 lbs. Another plus is that it packs up very small when it's empty for travelling. I made a test version by the pattern first, and then did my own modifications on the " real " one. Some other neat gear on that site, too. No less than 25 stoves! I see our Sgt. Rock has nifty rucksack directions on there.” 7:18:21 PM 1/26/06 “Cindy Lu-Awesome job on that pack!!! I hope you dont mind if I swipe a few of your ideas!LOL” 10:37:34 AM 1/27/06 “WOW!! you did a great job with your pack cindy lu! that's inspiring” 5:17:55 PM 1/27/06 “Thanks! swipe away, streamweaver. Nice thing about making your own is you can have it exactly as you want it.” 6:17:26 PM 1/27/06
