i had actually thought about putting this into the gear category...oh well.

TT'ers! What is your favourite trail whiskey/drink? keep in mind this isn't your favourite drink at the bar, but something you would take with you in the woods.

Mine:peppermint scnapps or crown royal

I usually go dry, but have carried 100 proof Southern Comfort. 100 proof, of course, is more weight efficient than the regular Southern Comfort.

JD or Crown Royal

I have started carrying wine, despite the weight.

I don't carry or drink alcohol on trails or parks where I know it's not permitted. It's a personal choice and others can choose to disregard the rules, but I won't. I guess I mean I would never say anything or turn anyone in unless I felt that they were a danger to themselves or others.

I like to carry an 8oz hip flask of Johnny Walker red when I'm on the trail. At home, I never touch the stuff; I stick with beer.

I like scotch or wine. If anybody ever brings jager on a hike again I'll kill them. That stuff kicked my butt on the Savage trip.

Zac is a very hip cat.

Tyrconnell Irish single malt is my favorite and I carry it in a Brunton aluminum booze bottle.
This bottle is coated inside and carries any liquid.........safely.

Please don't confuse it with the red gasoline bottle!!

Good gawd! Southern Comfort? ewwwwww!

I take something I can sip and not have my burn for hours afterward...like a GOOD bourbon (Knob Creek, Maker's Mark, or Woodford Reserve) or a GOOD tequila.

Trivia Question
What makes a bourbon not a whiskey? (you could look this up on the internet i suppose, but it would be cooler if you just knew)Hint: there are three properties.

No, she buys it in large plastic jugs. LOL! It's the quantity, not the quality, as they say.

Yeah I've hated SoCo since college! One too many SoCo-flavored pukes. HAHA! Happy lunchtime.

didn't someone previously mention Jeremiah Weed as a favorite?

wrt Southern Comfort - get sick drunk on it _once_ and you will never be able to stand the smell of it again - at least that is what happened to me

Jameson's or Bushmill's Black label used to be favorites of mine back in the days when I still drank

I'll take a stab at it.
1. Has to be made in Bourbon County
2. Is distilled from corn only
3. Is aged in new, fired oak barrels.

lumberzac is the WINNER! good work.

2. distilled from 80%(?) corn mash

i cant remember the exact percentage it has to be.

There are strict laws governing just what a Bourbon must be to be labeled as such. For example, at least 51 percent of the grain used in making the whiskey must be corn (most distillers use 65 to 75 percent corn). Bourbon must be aged for a minimum of two years in new, white oak barrels that have been charred. Nothing can be added at bottling to enhance flavor, add sweetness or alter color.

Why do the barrels have to be new?
kleetn

To keep the barrel manufacturers in business...
