I love TT and thebackpacker.com but one thing I've noticed is missing is a way to search for other users, at least I haven't found one. If you want to check out someone's profile you have to wait until they post on a thread. It'd be nice to have a page where you could check out the other users profiles by their screen name.

What does everyone else think? I'm relatively new here so I don't know if this has been tried before or if it's been brought up. Does anybody else thing this would be a good idea?

I do know about http://www.frappr.com/trailtalkers but that's a seperate website and relies on people to sign up to be accurate.

That one's nice too but again it relies on someone other than the webmasters of this site to update it

And/Or it would be nice if the screen names on the trip sign up pages were "clickable" so we could see the profiles.

Geobeet there are at least a half dozen missing from Indiana alone. There is no way to click on them to get profile or contact info

Those are all great but again, no way to click on them and get profiles and it is supported by someone other than thebackpacker.com. if it's supported by this site it would automatically update everytime somone signed up

A running count next to each profile indicating how many people have you on ignore would be nice too. A badge of honor of sorts.

You can use Google to search for users, and therefore get to their profile. Its great for finding old threads where you know you said "X" and you were talking to "Y". Plug in those things and your own name and you'll find it pretty quickly.

Here's how. Go to google.com and type this in the box on their main page:

site:thebackpacker.com/trailtalk your search terms here
