anyone ever do this, spring time-ish? i'm trying to plan a backpacking trip for me and my father, but we've both been out of the sport for a while, and don't want to get into anything too extreme, right off the bat. any comments and help are welcome!

Here is a link from a prior trip. I'd reccomend hiking north to south. plenty of bail out points and places to camp. Also there is a local guy who posted on TT. check the threads from the trip below for more info.

A great time to go is right as the leaves are budding. You get the green colors and expansive views.

overall, it is a fairly easy trail with rolling terrain. the southern end has a big 1,000 foot climb/descent. you can also leave a car at bradley wales, about half-way along the trail, for a shorter trip. if you do that, do the northern half- better vistas.
