DIGGIN' THE ROOT River Paddle Trip-MN-Ma y 5-7

This is what works best for me... and I'm the organizer, lol. ;-P

I have a tentative route in mind, Carimona (yeah, just go look for THAT on your maps, hahahaha) to Preston to general Isinours vicinity to Lanesboro.

ALSO... if desired, people can bike the Root River Trail, which basically runs right along the Root from Preston to Lanesboro.

Hmmmm, I hate to say it, but this may undergo yet another reincarnation.
I was just talking to one of the canoe outfitters while dining in Lanesboro tonight. He said the South Branch Root River really isn't that good. He gave me ideas for the North Branch, which would involve people either having to canoe a couple hours on Friday afternoon OR catch up to the group at an access farther downriver Saturday AM.

I will look at the river maps and figure distances.

It would involve BOTH nights in primitive camping (if canoeing on Friday). The second night would likely be on private land, but I was given a lead on nice bottom land where I could get permission.

Also, I was told the water doesn't really warm up till mid-May... and this stretch of river is deeper and more challenging than the Upper Iowa.

All that said, EGADS -- THE DATE MAY CHANGE, AS WELL AS ROUTE.
