“LOL - This is a very rectionary right wing list with some hugely skewed comments. The list of contributors makes it clear why.

The fact that "The Origin of the Species" is #17 (seventh of the Honorable mention list) tells you where a lot of these folks are coming from.”

Here is a neat and somewhat useless fact. around 1200 years after the founding of Christianity the Inquisitions started (bascially extremists who brooked no counter to pure Christianity) The Moslem religion started around 900 AD....does anyone see a cycle with the latest Islamic violence and insanity? Is this a cycle all religions are due to go through?

But regardless you take the date of 700 to the emergence of the radical movement and compare it to the real rise of the radical Christian movement and it appears that all major beliefs may go through a time of trial. I am a Christian, but I see cycles of ultra religious fervor in all religions. I am not slighting any religion, but I have a number of Islamic friends (one by the way is an interpretor in Iraq) and like Christians they look at the wack jobs like I look at say Pat Robertson or some of the others.....”
