'Silent Spring' and 'The Population Bomb' “Why would these 2 books get 'honorable mention' in a list topped by 'The Communist Manifesto' and 'Mein Kampf'? http://www.humaneventsonline.com/article.php?id=7591 last edited: 2/02/06 10:56:59 AM” 10:54:55 AM 2/02/06 “#4 looks more interesting!” 10:58:47 AM 2/02/06 “the hard backs with really sharp corners are pretty dangerous too...my cousin once lost an eye when someone "threw the book at him"” 11:03:24 AM 2/02/06 “I would have figured Webster’s Dictionary would have been on the list. With all those pages that thing has got to hurt if it ever fell off a shelf and on to someone. lol I think thriftyhiker and myself are on the same wavelength. last edited: 2/02/06 11:05:57 AM” 11:04:25 AM 2/02/06 “LOL!! You guys are massive dorks. That list was also good for a laugh. What do you think the chances are those folks have actually read those books?” 11:08:36 AM 2/02/06 “LOL - This is a very rectionary right wing list with some hugely skewed comments. The list of contributors makes it clear why. The fact that "The Origin of the Species" is #17 (seventh of the Honorable mention list) tells you where a lot of these folks are coming from.” 11:14:02 AM 2/02/06 “Why isn't the Bible on the list? It's full of violence, begetting and incest. It's instigated it's share of violence. last edited: 2/02/06 11:18:55 AM” 11:16:09 AM 2/02/06 “Cool. My to-read list was getting short.” 11:20:43 AM 2/02/06 “here in Tennesse a county is trying to get "To Kill a Mockingbird" banned from a Middle/High School required reading list. It says it is a racist book.” 11:29:17 AM 2/02/06 “What is wrong with a little healthy begatting?” 1:14:07 PM 2/02/06 “mtn steve...the new/old testaments and koran have caused more deaths than automobles and wwI and II i'm guessing” 1:21:57 PM 2/02/06 “Interesting cast of characters in the committee list.” 1:30:08 PM 2/02/06 “John Perkins should have gotten an honorable mention for, Confessions of an Economic Hit Man.” 1:33:32 PM 2/02/06 “I can't believe any of the Harry Potter books made the list. The books promote the practice of witchcraft.” 1:39:35 PM 2/02/06 “"I would have figured Webster’s Dictionary would have been on the list." Yeah, and without all those words, you couldn't have written all those other dangerous books. Apparently they couldn't find any of those books from the hippy days that advocated a blending of Marx and Kinsey, you know, the ones that advocate moving to a commune in the country and have lots of free sex.” 1:49:02 PM 2/02/06 “The Manifesto envisions history as a class struggle between oppressed workers and oppressive owners, calling for a workers’ revolution so property, family and nation-states can be abolished and a proletarian Utopia established. The Evil Empire of the Soviet Union put the Manifesto into practice. no matter if you're a righty or a lefty, anyone that thinks the soviet union followed marxism is an idiot, plain and simple.” 2:25:43 PM 2/02/06 “Soviet Union was State Capitalism, kinda like China now.” 2:44:23 PM 2/02/06 “bibles don't kill people, people kill people.” 2:54:58 PM 2/02/06 “people who read the bible kill people” 3:16:02 PM 2/02/06 “I think the worst book written was Wuthering Heights....had to read that darn book in High School. Here is a neat and somewhat useless fact. around 1200 years after the founding of Christianity the Inquisitions started (bascially extremists who brooked no counter to pure Christianity) The Moslem religion started around 900 AD....does anyone see a cycle with the latest Islamic violence and insanity? Is this a cycle all religions are due to go through? I personally can't wait for the Menonites to go through their phase.....” 3:21:17 PM 2/02/06 “//close trolling font//” 3:26:48 PM 2/02/06 “amish terrorists...suicide buggys” 3:28:15 PM 2/02/06 “Clip Clop, Clip Clop, Clip Clop.....THUNK!!! Amish Drive By Cobbing......” 3:32:12 PM 2/02/06 “Where is Ethan Fromme?????” 7:25:51 PM 2/02/06 “anyone that thinks the soviet union followed marxism is an idiot, plain and simple.” sacco 3:25:43 PM 2/02/06 The Soviet Union followed Marx the way Jerry Fallwell follows Christ.” 9:32:59 PM 2/02/06 “which ever book it was that said green hash is safe to eat last edited: 2/02/06 9:39:54 PM” 9:36:26 PM 2/02/06 “It's people!” 9:37:32 PM 2/02/06 ““Where is Ethan Fromme?????” bearmagnet 8:25:51 PM 2/02/06 I think he's fromme New Jersey but may have moved.....he's been posting on that other site.” 10:06:41 PM 2/02/06 “Books kill people the same way the spoon made Rosie O'Donnel fat.” 7:49:47 AM 2/03/06 “This thread and XL's post got me thinking: is anyone else watching the uproar over the cartoon pics of Mohammed in Europe?” 8:06:13 AM 2/03/06 “Yeh, I have never heard that Muhammed should not be graphically portrayed. BTW, He lived from about 570 a.d. to 632 a.d., curious that a poster in this thread earlier said the religion which was based on his teachings did not start until 900 a.d.. last edited: 2/03/06 8:28:43 AM” 8:23:47 AM 2/03/06 “Lone..you are correct. I was referring to the point where the conflicts began. But regardless you take the date of 700 to the emergence of the radical movement and compare it to the real rise of the radical Christian movement and it appears that all major beliefs may go through a time of trial. I am a Christian, but I see cycles of ultra religious fervor in all religions. I am not slighting any religion, but I have a number of Islamic friends (one by the way is an interpretor in Iraq) and like Christians they look at the wack jobs like I look at say Pat Robertson or some of the others.....” 9:04:11 AM 2/03/06
