The Chuckwalla MountainsView MessagesViewing posts 1 to 3 of 3 messages posted.
“On January 28th and 29th, Joe, Sooz, and I climbed Chuckwalla Mountain and Black Butte out in the Chuckwalla and Little Chuckwalla Wilderness areas between Indio and Blythe off Interstate 10 and north of the Chocolate Mountain Gunnery Range. The weather was perfect and we got to the top of both. The view seemed to be better (clearer) from Chuckwalla with nice views of the mountain in Joshua Tree NP to the north, but the climb up the wash was more fun on Black Butte. There were some fun areas with dry waterfalls in the wash on the way to Black Butte. While in the wash on the way up Chuckwalla, a plane came flying through just above us before heading out through a saddle. The noise was so loud that we dropped to the ground as it went by. It was going so fast only one Sooz caught a glimpse of it – Joe and I didn’t even see it. Haven't seen photos of an outing here in a while. It's so nice to check in and see those posted. Looks like another great and memorable trip.” 2:05:35 AM 2/03/06
