He had a restaurant in the village called Grandpas. One night, many moons ago, Maple and I were walking by. He was seated on a stool outside the front door. We said hi to him and he returned the greeting. Then, Maple asked him if he'd sign an autograph. That's when he exploded. He started in this whacked out rant about buying something in the restaurant and how he's not here to sign autographs! And on and on and on! I thought he was hysterical, as it was exactly what I expected from him! Maple, to this day, always prefaces any reference to him with some sort of remark of disdain about that incident...

“It said 95 when I originally posted that. The article has been updated to say that while his birthyear was widely reported as 1910, his son stated he was born in 1923. So there ya have it.”
