Of course you all knew that this was a gear thread right?

I won a Sporthill Infusion Top (Zone 3 - Winter wear) at the latest REI Winterfest a few weekends ago! Their products are made here in Eugene and it's awesome! They sell the products through many retailers. Here is the link (I don't know how to post a picture of it) of my "lucky" winning!

Beyond Fleece
I watched Mtn Steve wander around in near blizzard like conditions at Winterfest wearing a fleece top and fleece pants in total comfort and warmth. Me.. on the other hand had 2 bazillion layers on and found it necessary to continue to build roads (ok.. with a little help from my friend Hot Damn) to keep warm. MtnSteve wears Beyond Fleece. He told me to look it up on the internet as all the products are made to order. Of course, I got busy and forgot.. Until REI's Winterfest up in the snow and Beyond Fleece had a booth up there with clothing to try out. I grabbed a pair of fleece pants like MtnSteve had and looked for a fleece jacket like Steves, but... the only one that I was interested in was being worn by the sales guy... So... after much sniveling, whining and general acting bad he gave me HIS jacket to wear! I took off in my newly acquired (well.. they did take my driver's license in case I didn't show back up.. geezeee..)fleece and headed out to try it out for about an hour while snowshoeing. Awesome product! Mtn Steve is right on! Apologized for sweating up the poor guy's fleece and put a power bar in the pocket and promised to not come back and bother him again... :-)

Turns out they make this stuff right here in Eugene! I stopped by their workshop and they were having a close out of returns sale and I did score (got lucky again!) a winter fleece close to what Mtn Steve was wearing! I'll be warm next Winterfest too! Also, it's a great fleece to wear around.

I was talking to the owner about hiking pants and seam/zipper irritation/frustration. He also has hiking pants that have a new process to help with the rubbing, plus their zippers are very nice. I suggested that zip-off capris would be cool and he whipped up a design and took them to the trade show last week. They are not on the website yet, but they will be included in their line...

Here is the link for Beyond Fleece..

That's cool.

I would rather think of you "Gettingt lucky" the other way though. 8^0
