I went to the old timers festival across the street. Pleny of bluegrass.

A group was playing...one banjo, one mandolin, a flat top, two fiddles and a bass.

Then a guy who must have been 70 walks up, pulls out a Martin flat top and just absolutely made his fingers fly over the strings. Man he was good. I have never heard a guitar sing like that!

I love these mountains. Appalachia is where I belong. I got beat up over the past 9 weeks, but I feel like I am coming out of this with a better feeling for what I want my character to be.

“When ever one of my buds is down, they call, we talk and I bring up all the good stuff they usually don't see at that moment. If we look hard enough, we always dig up a bunch we forget about.

I'm gonna have to remember to do that myself when I'm down......seems I never think about it when I need to.


I'm lucky I have a lot of friends who care enough to call me when they're miserable.

“HOW CAN ANYONE BE SAD THIS TIME OF YEAR...my Lord...This is the time of the year when we build up fun memories for the coming winter months.

1. Go to Walmart, find a mother with a rug rat in the basket, drop a cool toy in th basket while she and the rug rat are not looking.....then watch the fun at the checkout.

2. Go set off all the singing critters in the toy department (LOL) I took my nephews to We-Be-Toys and had a hoot...we set off the toys, reprogrammed the alarm clocks to go off in 2 minute increments!

3. Go by an old folks home and just VISIT with some people the World Has forgotten....

4. GET OUT OF YOURSELF! The worst place I can be is WITH ME at most times....

Christmas isn't about presents, or Church ...to me Christmas is a time when My God reminded me how special I am to him. I try to pass this on by reminding people around me how special they are to me...know what.....it works. Yeah I have had crappy Christmases, I have been up to my A$$ in mud and cold and I have had those where I was lonely and felt forgotten (even in a house full of people) but that was Where I PUT MYSELF. Today I have fun, this is a fun time of the year.”
