The Original Distribution of Bois D'Arc Detailed information last edited: 2/12/06 7:16:04 PM” 7:06:10 PM 2/12/06 Tinder.... “Bow and hearth simply make the heat needed to smoulder tinder...then the tinder is gently blown on to feed more oxygen to the ember, yielding flame...you need a tinder ball, (Lint from your pocket works for the contact tinder, even a patch of (Shudder) COTTON can be frayed for use.” 7:23:16 AM 2/13/06 “what is this "build a fire 101"?? nowslimmer, I got some age, AND expertise at bending myself...........heeeeeyaaaaaaahhhhhh *CHOP*” 7:25:56 AM 2/13/06 “I tried this once and it took forever. It was clearly all technique and I didn't have it! I found that you needed really good tinder. I forgot what I used but stuff I might use for tinder when I used a match wasn't good enough.” 7:42:30 AM 2/13/06 “try dancing like an Egyption” 7:42:52 AM 2/13/06 “HPM has a variety of firestarting equipment, including the bow and hearth. When he brought ths stuff in to a scout meeting, I think it was one of the quietest meetings we had. They were all concentrating on finding their inner firebug, as we called it. As far as the tinder issue that's very true. One of our scouts made a bunch of dryer lint type firestarters, and gave several to us. I still cringe when I think of those things, loaded with other people's body hair and who knows what. last edited: 2/13/06 7:45:57 AM” 7:43:50 AM 2/13/06 “Good stuff.
