$2.45 is the cheapest right now at the AM/PM which sells gas and is a convenience store like 711.

We also have The Flying J which is a few pennies more. I'd hate to be taking a long distance car trip right now.

Cheap seems to be really relative with y'all.

last time I filled my tank was February 27th.

NNNOOOO!!!!It's still too cheap. When useage gets down so low that we can say no thanks to all of the foreign suppliers, then we can consider lowering to below $ 5.00 a gallon. I know ;'but I have to.....Sorry america you're a bunch of pigs.

“They were changing the price as I was at the stop light. $2.69 to $2.73.

Why didn't I pull in before the pump price changed?!”
ChicagoMark

If you ever see them changing the sign to RAISE prices, pull in immediately and start pumping. They legally have to change the sign first. If they were to change the price while the sign said it was less, they have to charge the price on the sign. Gas stations change the sign and then change the price on the pumps.

It's not an accident that gas is higher now. It's the Spring Break season and demand is higher.

Everyone should remember that at Speedway/SuperAmerica and Marathon, you can buy $50 gift cards for $48. Then, you can immediately use the gift cards.

The result is that you get a 4% reduction in the cost of gasoline. At $2.50 per gallon, that means you save ten cents. My normal fill up is at least 10 gallons. That means I save at least a dollar every time I fill up. My wife and I fill up about 5 to 6 times per month. That means we'll save about $60 during the course of the year applying this strategy.

BTW, my speedy rewards card used to get me another 3 cents or so off per gallon. Speedway ended that promotion. If anyone knows of a price-reduction loyalty program at another gas station chain, I'd be glad to hear about it.

I am currently trying to game the grocery store system through coupons, price books and analysis of our family's staple product usage.

Then, I might also look into those cash back credit cards. But I am wary of doing anything with a credit card.

I believe I saw signs going up to $2.66 when I was in Rochester last night. Had been $2.59, or across the border in Iowa the same day, $2.44 (where I filled up!)

There was an interesting article which predicted oil at something like $230 a barrel should Saudi supplies be interrupted. $110-$120 should Iran pull it's supplies from the world market. It's time to start making alternative plans. Although after 2007 there is the prospect of more supply on tap. Cities in particular need to look at building better publi transport. It's interesting, France is maybe best placed to cope, wth 70-80% of electricity coming from nuclear power and one of the best public transport systems in the world.

A friend recently bought a VW Golf diesel and plans to buy bio-diesel by the barrel as soon as he can.

He also installed a corn-burning stove and used very little propane this past winter........only to heat water.
The propane company is not happy and he loves that.

This guy wants to give the petroleum industry as little of his money as possible.

I don't see how we would be in a position right now to attack Iran. We really aren't prepared to deal with a serious disruption of oil long term. We and most of the world depends on a steady supply of oil each day at a not too outrageous price to keep the economy moving. If that were disrupted chaos would result almost overnight. Rationing if you could get it at all, skyrocketing food prices, possible shortages of food into cities causing food riots, recession and business failures. I'm sure they are thinking about this in the war rooms right now. I'm not sure how much gas would be if oil were $230 per barrel, but at present prices the airlines are barely making ends meet now.

2.75 a gal in Ga...granted at 1970's prices it would be $3.00 a gallon. Still I want to see a ruling. Build a refinery and a Nuke plant in the coastal states or jack their fuel up to $5.00 a gallon to subsidize the cost of foriegn fuel.

Sorry Florida we need to call Brother Jeb and tell him we are sinking wells off the coast (granted that is 26 MILES off the coast) or Florida will pay the $5.00 minimum to cover the cost. The Georgia/South Carolina region will be getting 5 or more new reactors with in 10 years.
