I've decided to install a conversion kit to burn an alternative fuel in my car. This time next week I'll be running on clean and renewable whale oil.

It's still $4 to $4.09 around here.
I just read an article this morning that high gas prices are causing some big pain for the auto industry. Annual sales were only predicted to be 12.5 million units based on June sales, a drop from 15.6 million last year.

They said shares of General Motors stock hadn't traded so cheaply since the 1950s. Ford was at a 52 week low and Chrysler is denying rumors that it will file for bankruptcy protection.

The entire auto industry employs 13 million people in the U.S. and is 4% of the nation's GDP from the latest figures I read.

Gas mileage and safety standards had nothing to do with those trucks and SUVs that bypassed the rules- it's was the unions that made them do it.

I gas up in town in the morning when the owner of station is working. He admitted today that he he working more to save on all the money he is losing keeping gas prices lower just to get people in the door. He let go of 2 clerks last week and may have to let some weekend help go next.

Crude oil right out of the ground is $3.40 a gallon right now. The price of gas will rise further when this supply hits the refined market in a month or so.

Iran is talking crap again and it is hurricane season. I just don't see anything to bring the price of gas down in the near future.

The current price here is $4.09 per gallon of regular. Walking distance to one of the largest refineries in the world go figure.
