crazy dog ?? !!View Messages“I have a little problem with my dog... I wake up last night and he is standing next to the bed about an inch from my face Growling with his teeth showing at me while i sleep !! ?? He is a rescue/flunked out police dog, about 100 lb Doberman. I reacted by slapping him in the face (I was half asleep and he scared the crap outa me) now i realize he could have attacked me for that. what the heck do you do ?? he is very well trained and I keep him in check but he can be aggressive and pushy.” 11:28:11 AM 2/17/06 “Maybe you snore too loud and woke him up. :) Seriously, it could be the snoring sounded like something else to him. Keep your bedroom door shut, so you don't become the next face transplant patient.” 11:32:03 AM 2/17/06 “I DO NOT SNORE ;)” 11:34:03 AM 2/17/06 “That's what most people who snore say!” 11:34:56 AM 2/17/06 “my snorin's so bad I wake myself up.........” 11:35:48 AM 2/17/06 “I'm a little afraid of him (the dog) I got him due to the fact that he was to hard to call off once he attacked someone in his police training. I never show fear around him and i make him walk the line but he could have got me good while i was sleepin (not snoring ;)” 11:39:52 AM 2/17/06 “Is he crate trained? How long have you had him? Why was he "flunked" as a police dog? Lots of things come into play here. My first suggestion is another night time place for Rover than in your room. I would also suggest a consultation with a behaviorist (not a trainer).” 11:45:05 AM 2/17/06 “shoot him” 11:46:22 AM 2/17/06 “he is crate trained, I have had him for 2 years and he fluked being a police dog due to the fact that he would not recall once he was sent to "attack" during training. He was a gift and I don't want to get rid of him, That said if he bites me he's done for ! I will never keep in in the bed room again as it really freaked me out,” 11:49:10 AM 2/17/06 “my buddy ET was a K9 officer and took possession of a dog that just got kinda wacky after some years on the scene. The dog was just gettin old and snapped at an officer so he had to be retired. ET had the dog for a few years till it died. I never did get too close to that dog.........” 11:49:26 AM 2/17/06 “Oops. You're affraid of him, and he knows. Despite our best efforts, animals pick up on our slightest hints of vulnerability, etc. He's a wolf. If he senses an opportunity to take control of the pack, he'll challenge you. I recommend you arm yourself with a knife with the intent of ultimately protecting yourself if necessary, and kick his ass - literally. If he puts up a fight, slit his throat, stab him in the lung, or whatever. Even if you gain complete and unconditional control over him, he'll still be a potential threat to others. Don't be surprised if you experience a sharp decline in visitors... IMO, until you can kneel down beside him and nudge his face out of his food bowl with your face, you ain't where you outta be with a pet dog. Poor buddy's been moulded into an attack machine, and will prolly never completely reform. Euthenasia(sp?) is prolly the safest solution :(” 3:02:52 PM 2/17/06 “Did you get him a baff and wash his stinky butt and it aint stinky no mor? I get VERRY MAD if I aint got no stinky butt!” 3:04:33 PM 2/17/06 “Hey Sarabelle, did you ever get those stinky butt sniffers for Christmas?” 3:08:43 PM 2/17/06 “Gosh, I can't imagine having a dog I am afraid of, even the tiniest little bit. Personally, I'd get rid of him before something terrible happens. Otherwise, your life with him will be one of constantly having to assert who is boss. The police K-9 academy where he was sort of trained should never have let this dog be adopted out if he has agression problems.” 3:12:36 PM 2/17/06 “Wow..when it rains it pours. I have four rescued dogs, 2 chessies, one black georgia lap dog and a jack russel terrier. The only one who has ever bit was the freakin JRT. Day you might want to see if there is anything the vet could reccomend. But don't get hurt...” 3:14:15 PM 2/17/06 “Yeah, be careful!” 3:15:08 PM 2/17/06 “gojo had some very good advise... If an owner cannot physically "take" their dog, you have no business owning it. I had a friend lose control of a 145 bull mastiff. I had a seemingly very tame 11month old aussie sheperd. (it was a used dog but had gone to the elementary school I worked at numerous times and was always perfect). Unprovoked it attacked my best friend one day nearly removing his left eye and biting his arm and butt. An unpredictable dog is a gigantic risk.” 3:18:07 PM 2/17/06 “The most dangerous thing about my Male Chessie (100lbs) is when he gets hold of some chili......Even as big as he is my little 11 year old daughter RULES him. (LOL) it is hilarious to see this little 70lb girl scolding him for misbehaving he is in the croutch head down...>(LOL)” 3:22:04 PM 2/17/06 “my dogs hang their heads or roll over to thier backs when they get scolded lol. The young one when he thinks he's in trouble will go to his crate and lie down lol!” 3:25:40 PM 2/17/06 “My neigbor has a BIG Pit Bull, but ever since it was a puppy it has been totally submissive. Hell even today when he sees our jack russel terrier he rolls on his back in submission” 3:35:34 PM 2/17/06 “Get rid of the dog. On another note - due to breeding, a dobermans skull is a little too tiny for their brain. Sometimes the pressure gets to them, especially older ones. Enjoy!” 3:51:38 PM 2/17/06 “well I dropped out for a little while due to the fact that the doberman jumped on my little dog and I ended up beatin his A$$ all over the house. He backed down and i have him crated. Darn It I think i'm going to have him put down !! I won't pass him off to anyone else due to the risk. I really like him but I won't walk on egg shells over a stupid dog.” 4:17:28 PM 2/17/06 “There are trainers who work wonders with aggressive dogs. Ask your vet for a recommendation. My sister had a dog they were having trouble with. The trainer worked with him and my sister/brother-in-law. He’s been a fine pet for years since. If you don't want to risk living with it (and I can't blame you) there are organizations that will place aggressive dogs with homes that can handle them, usually specific to one breed - again ask your vet.” 5:06:54 PM 2/17/06 “Check if there is a rescue group in the area....sometime they can find the perfect home or they can assess the dog. Girl, you are special to us, don't go out too far.” 5:08:51 PM 2/17/06 “Daydreamer where's your email addy? Or please email me if you want.” 5:10:28 PM 2/17/06 “i'll stick up my e-mail...forgot about that part.” 5:11:45 PM 2/17/06 “WOW! I got home and guess what...NO COPS!!!! THe diswasher was empty....the house was standing....Gonna be a good weekend.” 5:12:41 PM 2/17/06 “Great for you XL!!! Thanks DD.” 5:14:59 PM 2/17/06 “great XL !! no cops is always a good sign ! now if someone could just come do my dishes ;)” 5:16:10 PM 2/17/06 “DD if you want send me an email if I can help let me know.” 5:16:54 PM 2/17/06 “address???” 5:21:37 PM 2/17/06 “Hit my profile...goes to my email.” 5:24:39 PM 2/17/06 “You have mail DD.” 5:32:06 PM 2/17/06 “You probably did the best possible thing by giving him a good smack. I'm not advocating animal beating, but if you have a dog that has potential to be aggressive you need to smack him every now and then just to remind him who wears the pants . . . especially if he's getting nasty.” 6:45:22 PM 2/17/06 “As much as I love my animals and I have 4 dogs, 2 cats and 2 rats with seven two day old babies, I have to agree totally with the advice of Gogo!” 7:05:19 PM 2/17/06 “ ”7:11:41 PM 2/17/06 “ ”9:35:27 PM 2/17/06 “Sounds like you need to take this dog for a extended hike, over some really ruff terrain, deep creek crossings, and spend many hours alone with the dog. I am just guessing but I bet that the dog sense something outside, and just was telling you something you did not understand. And the little dog might of needed what he got. You think it could of been something the little dog did that provoke the bigger one????” 10:59:59 PM 2/17/06 “IMO, until you can kneel down beside him and nudge his face out of his food bowl with your face, you ain't where you outta be with a pet dog. gojo 3:02:52 PM 2/17/06 Wow, you mean G00SE isn't the only person who does this? Wild. All this time I thought he was some kinda freak. I guess not. last edited: 2/18/06 4:18:37 PM” 4:17:01 PM 2/18/06 “Skully, that is an alpha dog perogative; to eat what ever it wants no matter who lower in the pack is eating. Goose not a freak?? Hmmmm?” 4:21:58 PM 2/18/06 “Actually, I think he just likes dog food.” 4:24:09 PM 2/18/06 “Does he like canned or dry food??????????????” 4:30:27 PM 2/18/06 “Ha ha ha!!!” 4:30:43 PM 2/18/06 “I really think you just haven't lived until you've seen your husband alongside the dog on his hands and knees eating kibble from a bowl. It's possible there's some sarcasm involved in that statement. One thing I've always wondered. What is the difference between canned dogfood and spam anyway?” 4:34:55 PM 2/18/06 “OOOOOOOOOOH! That was mean!Differents parts of the hawg I guess!” 4:36:15 PM 2/18/06 “LOL!” 4:37:39 PM 2/18/06 “My husband has eatten dog kibble before. Last weekend he went one step farther and ate parakeet food. He said it tasted like dandylion flowers.” 4:38:47 PM 2/18/06 “Cook that boy some Spam and fried taters!” 5:00:11 PM 2/18/06 “I am just guessing but I bet that the dog sense something outside, and just was telling you something you did not understand. waterdog 10:59:59 PM 2/17/06 are you out of your friggin mind. If there was something outside wouldn't it make more sense for the dog to be at a door or window growling instead of growling directly in her face.” 5:23:04 PM 2/18/06 “ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() last edited: 2/18/06 6:35:59 PM” 6:31:29 PM 2/18/06
