I finally found a brand in WA state that was not buttermilk, but now that I've tried it, I've found that I've grown accustomed to the buttermilk and like it better:)

I love chocolate chip pancakes. I make them myself or get them at IHOP.

I like buckwheat pancakes if they are not done too dry. At IHOP I am always using their boysenberry syrup; otherwise I am fond of the real maple syrup, in ample quantities.

Boysenberry syrup is the shizzit.

My stepfather brought some back from Germany once. Beat the stuff you can get here all to hell.

Lips, please tell me you don't buy a mix for your pancakes....

Krusteaz brand mix with vanilla extract added. Then add bananas for awesome banana pancakes.

Maple syrup or maple flavored syrup is my favorite.

I think you all are barking up the wrong tree - Cornmeal pancakes are what makes he world turn round. It makes you sit on the thinker for a while afterwords-I'm not going to lie to you - but its worth it. Slab some butter on em, drown it in syrup..mmMMMMmmmmm..

For a special surprise - take some Hershey chocolate bars and break them into squares. Place them between the pancakes, and let them melt (they'll resolidify slighty). Add syrup to taste. Enjoy.

Spamcakes! Dice up some tabasco flavored Spam into very small chunks and mix into pancake mix. Top with butter and lots of blueberry syrup.

My grandson LOVES pancakes. We usually make extra & freeze them. Heat them up in the micro or toaster and he's good to go.

My wife LOVES real maple syrup. Luckily I get enough given to me for her. Now an old friend in the finger lakes started a maple syrup business this year along with buying/renting several houses. Cutting wood for his heat & syrup take a lot of time too.

Some year, I'll tap my 100 or so sugar maple tree's. Don't know if it would be worth the effort. Have to use wood to cook it forever. At least if I over cook it, my daughter loves maple syrup candy.

bitpusher, um, I never thought to make them from scatch. WA sells the Krustz brand which I use. I grew up on Aunt Jemima. I guess if my mom made them from scratch, I would have too. Some people use Bisquick and like that as a mix for pancakes.

I also love, love, love French toast made with cinamon. I don't like when restaurants make it without cinamon and shake powdered sugar on them. I make it myself anyway so I can get a nice toasty crust around the outside. I love eating the edges. I also like to make dark edges on my pancakes, but you can only do them on the first side you cook. Browning things really gives them extra flavor.

I actually prefer Krusty's buttermilk to made-from-scratch...I went with waffles this morning served with melted maple butter and real maple syrup...I had brought the maple butter home from the restaurant we went to last night...they serve it with their popovers...I asked for xtra;)

I use pancake mix but I use milk instead of water. I made french toast this morning. I use french bread and put cinamon in the egg mixture. I butter them and sprinkle with powder sugar. mmmmm! I'm a BIG Mrs. Buttersworth fan!

Sunshine, I use the low cal Mrs. Buttersworth and even take it to IHOP with me.

Eggos are great. An old family family favorite is to take a thick slice of chocolate ice cream and put it between two toasted eggos.

I've had the waffles you make yourself with batter that hotels provide you with for a cont'l breakfast and they are tasteless.
