Carrizo Plains National Monument

“I got up at 3:00 AM Monday...and drove up to the Carrizo Plain. I arrived just before dawn it was a balmy 26 degrees out when I shot my first photo.


Soda Lake from the Soda Lake overlook.
It's a short semi steep hike to the top of the overlook.



My first Wildlife sighting...this photo looks almost fake to me...but I have the RAW file to prove it ;) I think I found a logo on this trip...


Next stop Painted Rock....big time pictograph site.



There were small rabbits running to and fro everywhere. Hundreds of them.





The sad part is how many of the rock paintings have been vandalized or graffitied, why do people do this???

The Carrizo plain from Painted Rock.



The Pronghorn Antelope were one of my reasons for visiting....



Until I visited the CPNM Website I had no idea that CA had a wild Antelope population.



Soda Lake and the Temblor Range. The San Andreas Fault runs along the base of those hills....maybe they should have named them Trembler mountains ;)
