“If I'm not mistaken, tonight is the night Sara wears our harness while checking out a chimney. A fire fighter is supposed to wear one as well.

“Na, just kinda cool. They called a month ago for advice on what to use, I recommended these and sent them two on a 30 day demo.

If anyone wants the one Sara (I think she's the one) wore, we can start bidding at $300.00 ;-)”

“Swiss seats are so 60's. With a full body harness, with multiple attachment points, you can get much more creative ;>)

These wristlets are comfortable enough to wear for long periods when they must be kept on. They fit perfectly and do not work loose. Special anatomically cut laminated foam encircles the wrist, and locking buckles keep them in place. Will also work well on ankles as a drag device. Webbing lanyard allows flexibility of movement without excess weight.

Most climbing stores will not take any load bearing stuff back once it leaves the store”

“Not climbing gear, rescue harnesses. We have a selection of 30 day trial items users can try. They must be returned in a "like new" condition and they are reinspected and documented after every use.

These things are built to take a 5000+ lb load, letting a guy hang in one to see if he likes the fit, helps sell a lot of harnesses. Most rescue outfits do the same thing.”

“Hey Mtnsteve I just completed a 40 hour rope rescue course last week. It was a hoot! It had been 15 years since I've been on a rope and it was with swiss seats everytime. The class III harness I wore was so comfy you didn't even know you were hanging upside down. We probably trained on most everything you sell. I was amazed how much confidence the new equipment gave me. It has to be good, I work for a major chemical company. If I have to do a confined space rescue it may not be a pretty site. The last thing you need to worry about is gear when entering a hot zone.”

Who taught your class?

I have done a lot of scary things in my life....the most nerve racking and stressful was confined space standby during the repair of a kiln. I was well paid, but man, I was a wreck for two weeks. The other three guys on the team were firefighters and they said the same thing.

“Got my training here mtnsteve. It is also where I attend annual fire brigade training. One heck of a training site. I be back there for two more days of rescue training next month. I've gotta try these new skills on a pleaure trip sometime this year. I didn't see CSI did they use your harness?

“I thought of this thread tonight when I watched My Name is Earl. The scenario was just a wee bit different than CSI though.

Earl and his brother Randy climb to the top of the town water tower, only to eventually break through the top of it. Fortunately they were wearing their "harnesses" which were really just pieces of rope tied around their middles and tied off to the top of the tank. Problem was that the tank was empty and the ropes were just short enough to dangle them a few feet off the bottom of the tank. They couldn't get themselves out of the rope, they couldn't climb the rope to the top, and they couldn't do anything about getting help out of their predicament. I thought, if only they had mtnsteve's harnesses instead...”

I never used to watch CSI, and recently I saw an episode from what must've been like the first season or something. It was so weird! Their characters were pretty different...ol' Grissam actually hugged someone and was flirting w/Sarah!”

When I was talking to the guy I almost told him to get rid of that stupid hard hat with the flashlights all over it. In another show, I kept expecting it to fall off every time the gal looked down (no chin strap).

I read somewhere that the enrollment for forensic classes shot up something huge due to this show (and the others). Places that had 8/10 folks sign up are having to turn students away now.

It was kinda neat to watch everyone come in the office yesterday and check the labels on the harnesses. They all wanted to know if they made, assembled, inspected or packaged the one on the show.”

“Yup. Kind of funny, they poked fun at themselves and other forensics-type shows the whole episode.

The culprit was a guy masquerading as a fireman, with a foot fetish. He would light smoke bombs to get people to open their door, then would slam a mask on their face attached to the air bottle on his back. That bottle was nitrous oxide, which put them right out. He ended killing his last victim because he didn't take the mask off.”

“Ahh okay, thanks! So they caught the guy then? Yeah that was funny about the forensics show taping them...sort of annoying after awhile, but funny. I liked when Grissom said, "There are too many forensics shows on TV."”
