I'm going to Sacco's place Friday evening and then on to Stowe early enough to get there before noon.

There is a pretty good diner about a half-mile west of Rt 100 on Rt 108 on the right called McCarthy's Restaurant.

McCarthy's Restaurant
454 Mountain Road
Stowe, VT 05672
802-253-8626
fax: 802-253-3026

$, B, L, SB, V, C, W

Every town has its 'local' gathering spot for breakfast and lunch and in Stowe it's McCarthy's. Homemade, always, with freshness as a hallmark

Dang, they're dropping like flies. Maybe we'll see ya next week, Lt. Gem, I miss ya darlin. Get back up here one of thse days. Looks like it's just the 3 Stooges, eh?

There is an outside chance I'll have to bail but that will depend on nature's fury. As we speak, the Delaware and Lehigh River's are well above flood height and my little city of Easton is under water. They say it's still rising and there's a chance I'll have to do storm restoration duty which would go into the weekend.

I have the entire week off and I will be there, like I said, with or without you dorks.

Getting to Sacco's might be difficult, they got soaked up there.

That's an understatement and a half. Both I-88 & I-90 are closed at the moment due to flooding. I'd keep an eye on this website:

I might have to skip seeing El Rancho Sacco and go by way of NJ, NY & Conn to get to Vermont.

Um Marko, NJ and NY are getting flooded also. I heard that parts of 95 might be closed.

just sent you mail.

If Pennsy has to bail for work, let's reschedule and maybe jump on the AmyG trip or do one of PA's great loop trails like the Chuck Keiper or Black Forest Trail, so many options. One thing to keep in mind is, even the places we can hike have the potential to be flooded out, but water will likely be down by the weekend.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...............

I'm still hoping to knock out that piece of The Long Trail. As long as Route 100 is not washed out it can still work.

Things are lookin' pretty dismal in western New York.

I just heard I-90 has been reopened. Exit 28(Fonda/Fultonville) and 29(Canajoharie) are still closed.
I-88 from exit 15 to exit 9 is still closed in both directions.

So far, they don't need my services, but the water is just starting to recede so maybe they're waiting.

I think it's gonna take about 6 1/2 hours to get up there, so we'd have to leave awful early.

Right now, no one knows what's going on at work. The water is so high, there isn't much anybody can do until it's safe to get to the trouble areas. I may not even know until I get back to the shop tomorrow afternoon around 3. It's typical of them to wait until the end of the day and say "by the way, you are not going home."

On that note, I don't know what to tell you guys except that I won't know for sure until late tomorrow afternoon. I don't think you should postpone the trip if I can't make it though. A 2 people trip works. I don't know what the conditions are like in Vermont so I'm no help there.
Pennsy

I'm still going to go backpacking, but I'm going to stay closer to home if the VT trip doesn't unfold. I need a good backpacking trip this weekend.
EarthNsky

So do I. If they let me play and the VT trip doesn't pan out, I'm kinda liking the idea of doing the whole Chuck Keiper trail.

yeah, that sounds really appealing to me (CKT). It might be a good idea considering road conditions due to the flood.

Another T-storm is rolling in right now and looks like there'll be some this weekend.. ugggh

I've been in contact with Chet in NYC.
He still wants to go and I did tell him that without a second car we will hitch hike from Smuggler's Notch to Appalachian Gap.

Yee-haw, here we go!!

The 10-day has been changing with consistantly low chance of rain........10-20-30-40%
I guess its a crap shoot.
If it changes for the worse I will not go.

Come on you guys, I want to get a piece of The Long Trail this year!

Getchyer self one too!
