DDX Eye for the Straight GuyView Messages“For us less-than-delicate types to get delicate advice. Dear DDX, I am looking to replace the old comforter on my bed. I am looking for something practical that is manly, yet soft enough that the ladies will love---something that says "I will compromise for her pleasure" but not something that says "bend me over a chair." Any suggestions? What about down? Sincerely, Mystified in Michigan” 8:06:08 AM 2/24/06 “LMAO... A "calling" for DDX!” 8:07:22 AM 2/24/06 “LMAO He's the man for the job. ;-)” 8:07:27 AM 2/24/06 “And... what about up? LOL” 8:08:00 AM 2/24/06 “I could use some help on making my radishes into those cute rose buds... And noncom, not to step on DDX's toes here but I find laying down a sheet a Visqueen says what your wanting to say.” 8:09:26 AM 2/24/06 “Stovey, quit posting NEAR simultaneously with me (DDX, can you tell him how to work on SIMULTANEOUS?!??!?!!! THANKS, DDX!!!)” 8:11:10 AM 2/24/06 “You know DDX LOVES his cigars.... while lounging around in one of his collection of 35 coats and 30 pairs of shoes...(Imelda would be jealous) ***What would Freud say?!*** Wink, Wink, Nudge, Nudge.... last edited: 2/24/06 8:12:51 AM” 8:12:10 AM 2/24/06 “Down is nice but is has a way of holding onto farts.” 8:20:09 AM 2/24/06 “Wink, Wink, Nudge, Nudge.... - pink LMAO!” 8:21:06 AM 2/24/06 “Down also has a way of sticking together when you crap your bag because you didn't go due to lack of paper.” 8:25:00 AM 2/24/06 “i prefer the shower curtain approach...it says "i want to get it on with you but i'm still concerned about my new mattress"” 8:32:34 AM 2/24/06 “Well hell thrifty ya might as well just go for the plastic mattress cover that says, “I’m neat and tidy but things are going to get messy”.” 8:35:24 AM 2/24/06 “the shower curtain does double duty which is a plus for us money conscience people” 8:49:01 AM 2/24/06 “OMG, you guys are cracking me up. Knock it off or I'll never get any work done.” 9:44:46 AM 2/24/06 “Does this mean he's gonna have to head to the Midwest and flounce around the apartment for a day?” 9:47:19 AM 2/24/06 “flounce?” 9:49:27 AM 2/24/06 “flounce = gay bounce” 9:51:55 AM 2/24/06 “maybe nc, you should just ask the ladies what they prefer....... i luuuuuuuv down comforters. :)” 9:54:04 AM 2/24/06 “Personally I use a 600 fill down comforter that I can change out the Duvet cover with whatever seems fashionable. Replacing a Duvet cover every so often is much cheaper then replacing a nice comforter.” 10:21:02 AM 2/24/06 “Duvet cover? I'm looking for a cover for my bed---I don't have a duvet.....I don't think.” 10:28:28 AM 2/24/06 “Will the Duvet cover not compress the down? ;-)” 10:30:47 AM 2/24/06 “I have a down comforter and change the duvet with whatever colors are in my bedroom at one particular time. And yes, it is much cheaper than having to buy a whole new bedspread.” 10:32:59 AM 2/24/06 “My favorite bed accessories are 800 thread count cotton sheets; and a nice thick (at least 4") high quality removeable pillow top is the bomb, too. Then of course, throw in my hot man, and I would never get out of bed. It can cause problems on work days.” 10:34:41 AM 2/24/06 “WTH is a duvet?” 10:44:08 AM 2/24/06 “du·vet ( P ) Pronunciation Key (d-v, dy-) n. A quilt, usually with a washable cover, that may be used in place of a bedspread and top sheet. number of new words learned on TT: 13” 10:47:38 AM 2/24/06 “A duvet is basically a comforter cover” 10:50:37 AM 2/24/06 “It's French you know ;o) - a freedom comforter.” 10:51:00 AM 2/24/06 “Welp! Now that you guys know what a duvet cover is, you're officially metrosexual. Enjoy!” 10:52:08 AM 2/24/06 “No it's not em, the Duvet is the whole thing.” 10:52:27 AM 2/24/06 “A duvet (pronounced /du've/, from the French duvet - is a type of bedding— a soft flat bag traditionally filled with down or feathers, or a combination of both and used on a bed as a blanket. Duvets originally came out of rural Europe and were made of Eider, a type of duck's down, which is well known for its usefulness as an insulator.” 10:55:41 AM 2/24/06 “Then why are there buttons on one side.......to put a comforter in it!” 10:56:36 AM 2/24/06 “I think there's a difference between a duvet and a duvet cover.” 10:58:51 AM 2/24/06 “Basically a Duvet is a comforter. Once you put it in a Duvet cover and throw it on the bed - the whole thing also become a Duvet. last edited: 2/24/06 11:03:00 AM” 11:02:09 AM 2/24/06 “good god where are all the men? LOL...i'm gonna have to go to a sports bar for lunch just to up my testosterone” 11:06:12 AM 2/24/06 “Oh well, what the hell do i know anyways.... I'm just a girl ;)” 11:08:41 AM 2/24/06 ““My favorite bed accessories are 800 thread count cotton sheets; and a nice thick (at least 4") high quality removeable pillow top is the bomb, too." My favorite bedroom accessory is a bottle of Jergens hand lotion and a box of Kleenex. LOL! Actually I have these super thin, super soft sheets that are like sleeping in butter. And anyone who's had the pleasure of sleeping in butter will tell ya, it's the shiznit. This with my huge down comforter (yes with a duvet) and I sleep so well I can sleep through my alarm for an hour.” 11:10:16 AM 2/24/06 “i like sleeping in butter too, but the down side to it is those little curly hairs on your pancakes the next morning” 11:18:19 AM 2/24/06 “Crisco's actually better because it won't curdle.” 11:19:52 AM 2/24/06 “Now you know DDX's masculinity is questionable if he knows the term "duvet" AND what it means... But the question is.... What color is is cover????? My guess... Orange or Pink” 11:45:40 AM 2/24/06 “and do the covers match the drapes?” 11:48:55 AM 2/24/06 “This is very similar to the comforter I have. Well worth the money... it'll last forever if you take care of it. I bought one at Sierra trading post a couple of years ago when they were 80% off. 800 thread count shell with 600 fill power down. Think I paid $90 for it but they normally run in the mid to upper 200's for a cheap one. Down COmforter Then you buy a Duvet cover which is essentially a large bag that the comforter slides into to protect it and keep it clean. During the summer I ususally just use a coverlet/bedspread.” 11:54:16 AM 2/24/06 “But is it lace? and do you wear silk pajamas?” 11:55:30 AM 2/24/06 “My quilted coverlet is an orange. My current Duvet cover is a golden wheat color.” 12:03:58 PM 2/24/06 “Isn't a duvet something that women use to ... NEVER MIND!” 12:18:42 PM 2/24/06 “I wasn't too far of of the mark then! ;-) What color are your silk PJs and do you get a pedicure every month?” 12:27:03 PM 2/24/06 “DDX said coverlet! And I love him even more for doing so.” 12:30:11 PM 2/24/06 “If that's all it takes, ... COVERLET!” 12:33:52 PM 2/24/06 “If you ever get rid of that John guy Ruby... I'm here for you.” 12:35:19 PM 2/24/06 “Coverlet! Coverlet! Coverlet! WTH is a "Coverlet" ddx owns a duvet? is duvet pronounced like bidet?” 12:36:46 PM 2/24/06 “yes BM.” 1:04:04 PM 2/24/06
