I just wanted to start a thread to say that I'd like to camp at the supa-secret campsite Friday night if anyone else is interested.

Depending what time jmitch wants to meet at Worlds End SP, we'll have to get up early and pack up. Or we could camp at the park.

anywho, I am most likely in for this trip. I don't know about Friday night, but the supa-secret campsite should be perfect for Sat night. I think that is what Jeff has in mind. It's about 10 miles into the hike, leaving 7 for Sunday.”

“TT was down when I got home, so I cleaned up and then went out and got loaded and when I came home, it was too late and I was still fairly loaded. So I am going to try and write one up tonight.

hey Bruce, I take it you missed that pile up on 81 in Lebanon County last night? I heard 50 cars were involved due to a serious snow squall.”

“snow squall? It was sunny and a nice drive all the way home. Lucky me I guess.”

“I think they got things moving again not long before you went through. 81 and 78 were closed for more than 5 hours. They were routing people up 33 to 80 coming east.

Sunny and clear, that's what I said, I saw no sign of bad weather yesterday.

What kind of Peppermint schnapps was that? That was the best PMS I've ever had.

“Well, as of now, I can do a friday night and have to be back saturday late afternoon.
The wife has a dinner thing with her friend.
If they cancel, which is a good chance, I can do the whole thing. But just in case. Is there a bail out spot for me on saturday ? I'll know for sure by thursday.”

Is there a place to park on Rock Run Rd? That's right near the campsite. If I remember correctly, there maybe a place to park there. That would make for a 11 mile hike Saturday, including the bushwack along Coal Run.

Otherwise, you can park up by Sones Pond. I could shuttle you there Friday. If you parked there, you'd get a good chunk of Saturday's hike in excluding the Coal Run bushwack.

if they have snow on Friday at Crystal Lake Camp, maybe those interested could do some cross country skiing.

“Years ago, I used to cross country ski at Crystal Lake a few times per year. I haven't been there in a long time though. They used to do a pretty good job grooming for skate skiing.”

“I used to go to summer camp there as a kid. that's where I started backpacking.”

“That's cool. My friend told me it was summer camp during the off season. They have a small downhill ski area too, but I don't downhill ski so I never tried it.”

“9 AM sounds good. There's good parking spot at the steel bridge over the Loyalsock creek on Rock Run Rd.”

“I'm going to bail on this one and stick with my (rocks) AT (rocks) plan. That's a long drive for an overnighter, and I want to finish the (rocks) PA (rocks) AT (rocks) this year.

I am looking at your BFT hike Rob . . . haven't done that one yet.”

“since it's winter, the sites at Worlds End are first come first serve. We should have no problem getting a site though. They have a lot of sites at WE and it's the offseason right now.”

“Hey Rich - I xc skiied at Crystal Lake 3-4 weeks ago. The conditions were excellent but it rained the next day and they haven't been opened since. There is no longer any downhill skiing but you can xc ski down the slope. Weeeeeeee, that was fun.

Like Rich said, there is parking on Rock Run near the bridge, and it's about a 15 minute bushwhack to the awesome secret campsites. Lazy backpackers could probably leave a car and overnight gear there and slackpack. ;o)

“Pennsy, that shows how long ago it was since I skied there. They probably just didn't get enough of a crowd to keep the downhill area open. They had some rough winters too when there wasn't much snow for x country skiing.

Nogranola, we'll see you the next time around. I'll check the other site in case someone writes a trip report for your trip.”

“friday night we'll camp at Worlds End State Park. Saturday night camp at the super secret campsite.”

“I won't be there until Sat AM so you Friday nighters should camp at the double secret spot and stack a 10' high pile of firewood for the Sat nighters. BUT, only a few know the secret location and it can not be given out online, so perhaps it's World's End for you guys unless someone "in the know" shows up Friday.

“I emailed him at his netzero account, but I don't think he's using that anymore. I can't find his ph#.

I think I know where the super secret campsite is, but I will not disclose the location here on TT. So far it looks like only CP and I are camping Friday night.

CP, I'll email you tomorrow. We can either car camp at WE or at the super secret spot. Either spot is cool with me. The super secret campsite, is supposed to be one of the best campsites around.

I don't know where the top secret campsite is, but i know there are nice sites along the link trail, close to the loyalsock.”

“we will also descend from canyon vista via the link trail- nice falls and cascades along double run. we may also visit cottonwood falls if people want.”
