Looks great Ruby! Thanks for the invite.

I have to wait until closer to the time to see what my work schedule will be like (and if I have one, lol....I'm working on it). Abby and I are definately interested.

I just asked Ab if she wanted to go back her answer was "YES YES YES YES YES!!! CAN WE?!" =D There was some jumping up and down involved and a neck crusher hug too.

I can't make it that weekend; it's the same weekend dad and I do our annual mushroom hunt hike.

Thank anyway, Ruby.

I’m going to skip this one. My mom’s going through some health issues and while I refuse to say this could be her last mother’s day I think I should spend the day with her.

Now, when’s the AATKH for Nordhouse being set up?

Alas, I can not make this either because I will be kidless that weekend plus I'm already scheduled for the mushroom hike too.

Thanks for the invite Ruby---gotta get you and Jon over to MI soon!

I'm not able to make it, either, Ruby. I have to work that weekend. Thank you for the invite. I would love to see RRG someday, though.

I'd love to make this trip as it'd be an easy transition back into hiking since I broke my leg...but I'm going to be in Atlanta that weekend for work :-( Thanks for inviting me though!

Oh, WAY COOL! I would love to see Spalpeen, Sunshine, and the Fridge and his wife.

My Jon is doing great. He is around, but he has a night shift kind of job so our schedules only mess up on the weekends (sort of) and during the day if I don't work.

BTW Fridge, if you decided you needed to rid yourself of any of that thar lemonade, I might be able to help you out. ;)

The Fridge? As in refigerator? Coming up to see the yankees? Aw man! Hey Fridge, make sure you bring Ruby some of that "special" beverage you have.

This is a big maybe. The little one will be 8 months old and I will need help in convincing the wife that this is a good/fun idea. We have talked about this and she is theoretically cool with it, but actually doing it is something real.

Jeebuz, I will need some of the standard basecamp gear that I have eschewed for weight reasons.

hmm, I'm thinking ths is a job for a henry shires rain shadow.

Wow, thanks for the invite ruby. This sound like a cool trip. If it wasn't mothers day and it wasn't a month before my wife's due date we'd definitely go. We love hanging out and watching kids play and now that we're having our own we won't look like weirdoes when we do it. ;)

I am leaning toward going to the same camp site we went to last year. If I remember correctly, that was about a 1.5 mile hike in or so. So if it is necessary for anyone to lug in their gear in two trips, that is very doable. The hike is nice because you go right past one of the natural bridges, which is fun to explore.

Hubcap, if you go, I have a RRG topo map that I bought for you a long time ago. Either I'll give it to you on the trip, or if you send me your address, I'll mail it to you. It has been riding around in the back of my car for a long time. Remember when we were there last January (I think it was) and the gas station was out of topos? I picked one up for you when I was back at RRG in May.

That's a great site. I wouldn't mind staying there again at all. The hike in is gorgeous!

I have my daughter that weekend and I'm going to try to make this one.

How old are everyone's kids that are going?

My daughter is 2 1/2. She's been asking about camping since I've been going so much lately and showing her pictures. she goes and puts on her little "pack pack" and says she's going camping.

Exactumundo, Sass! Hobbes will be 6 in April. Both my sons love younger kids and will be good at helping to entertain and show her "the ropes."

I'm thinking about coming on this trip with my 12 year old. I went in December on the hike that Crash organized but didn't go on. It was so beautiful (and cold). Can't wait to go back!

I am so ready to get out there again. I've been couped up in this office for three months!

Well, Mom decided she just doesn't want to risk having to poo in a cathole, lol. So, it's looking like it's Abby and me only. I sure hope the new job isn't wanting me to work that Saturday!

Cool, Sass. Sorry you others cannot make it.

I think I'm going to let the boys ditch school on Friday and try to get on the road by mid-day. I hope to arrive by 5 p.m. or so. I will probably let them eat dinner in the car so we can just hike in and make camp and hang out without too much hassle.

I put myself down as a maybe. I'll have to talk my 7 y.o. son into going since this is the weekend we usually head to VA Beach to see the monster truck show.

How easy is the hike? My wife is still rehabing her knee so I'm sure the hiking is good for her, as long as it's not to strenuous. A perfect reason for me to carry all the gear :^)

It's easy. there are a couple of hills but my whiney five year old managed it with no issues. Last year Ruby chose a great siteabout a mile and a half in. I think she's aiming for the same one this year.
Sassafras

Sweet, we got a full moon. The perfect excuse to get drunk and wander through the woods amelessly in the middle of the night.

My wife works Friday night so we won't be making it in until Saturday morning. I'm hoping Jerbear doesn't do his skivvy dance until Saturday night. I'd hate to have all these dollar bills and no place to spend them ;^)

Sticks, I don't recall off the top of my head what the name of the place is. I was planning to go to the same location as last year's Mothers Day trip. I will pull out my map in the next few days to check it out. It is not near the place we camped at last January, that infamous trip in which Gem performed for us all in the hotel room.
Ruby

If it is 1.5 miles in on the Gray's Arch/Rough trail that would put it at the crossing of Kings Branch.

Apparently my wife doesn't have to work Friday so I should be in that night, assuming I make it home in time.

I just got a new job so I'm back up in the air again, unfortunately. I should find out this week if I have to work that Saturday. It's going to be ugly around here if I do, Abby is so excited about this trip.
