Seligman Arizona???

“Does anyone know anything about Seligman? It is about 1 hour west of Flagstaff on I-40.”

I've googled the heck out of it. I meant general, I've seen it stuff. It does get cold there mostly highs in the 50's and some 40's in the winter and 90 in the summer.

nothing much in the immediate area, but pretty darn close to some of the most amazing landscape i've ever seen.

beside the obvious grand canyon; there's oak creek canyon and sycamore canyon.

sedona and prescott are wild, gorgeous little towns and the jerome area is really neat too.

take a drive down 89 to prescott, then take 89A back up to flagstaff, I-40 to close the loop back to seligman.

i promise you'll thank me.

“It's too small for any services ei. hospitals, doctors, libaries, movies, groceries, etc.
It's 50 miles Williams and that's still too small, so another 30 miles to Flag for ANY shopping or anything.
It's far enough off I40 that most people miss it, in an area that does not lead people off the highway.
I don't even think the Snowbirds go there.

Now that I've said all this negitive stuff, please understand, if I could afford Sedona I'd be there now, I did own a cabin in Prescott and am giving some thought to retirement there, and if Flag had a better Planning Commission I'd be thinking about it too. So I like the area in general, but IMHO Seligman is not worthy.

“Northern Arizona rocks! We are at about the same elevation as Seligman. it's been a very mild winter, hardly ever down to freezing at night, and very temperate in the daytime (50-70). Sacco's right about the Seligman-Prescott-Flagstaff loop. 89A from Flagstaff to Prescott is the "scenic route".Lots of sight-seeing and great scenery.”

Yes, Northern Az is amazing and there are many places where a RV Park would be a good investment. Seligman is just not one of them.”

“I think it may be off the Interstate, on old Rt. 66. Many of the small towns that were bypassed dried up. Probably good for the retired RV Good Sam crowd in no hurry, just enjoying the journey. Near Prescott, should be high desert and canyonlands.”

“Thank you for your input all. The campground is on exit 187 (I think) off I-40. It is for sale because the health of the husband. It is a good deal. Last year occupancy was up and up again this year. It is up for all the KOAs along the I-40 corridor.

It is 59 miles to a Walmart, not sure if it's super or not. It would be the one located in Prescott.

I am going out there on the 17th and back the morning of the 20th it's my whirlwind tour!

Navi, thanks, if this one doesn't work out, I'd love to have that number. For my contigency plan I might just buy land and build.

“We're moving to Phx this summer, so nachurly I'm interested in travel info. A little ways back when I first joined this site, we lived there in Phx for a year. So I recall all the names y'all are throwing up, and have seen some of those places.

As it stands now, we'll either move in July, or in October. With some work scheduling prollems, we might not know until this summer. I've met many East Coasters, and a few of the Left-coasters too, so I look 'fard to meeting some of y'all as well!

“I spent a wonderful 2 1/2 days in Seligman. It rained, sleeted, snowed and hailed!!! Very funny! (But it didn't scare me away)

“Seligman is a great place to slow down briefly for. Can't imagine living there.
Cutsey tourist, route 66 stuff, high desert. No services.”

“Seligman is the closest town before the turn-off to Hualapai Hilltop (60 miles or so away from Seligman) which is the parking area in Havasupai Indian Reservation. You can get mules here (or chopper down or even hike down) from the Natives to haul you and your gear 9 or 10 easy hot miles (depending on the time of year) down to Supai Village and beyond to the campground to the coolest waterfalls in the entire Grand Canyon. I prefer to hike down since my legs still work.”

I've been through many times and a couple of summers ago we were staying in Sedona and it was 109F, so we headed to Flagstaff a couple of days. It is also the most expensive housing of all the places we are considering/interviewing.”
