The webpage is coming from a biblical perspective, as anything NOT in the Bible is suspect. Christians talk like that all the time to one another. We believe that any human interpretation is corupted w/ sin.

. That is not the argument the Christians make

right. its not even an argument at all. i know lots of christians who automatically assume the bible is the word of god because it is so ingrained in them from early childhood that it wouldnt occur to them to think of anything else, or even of the necessity to back it up with historical references or logical reasoning. i used to be one of them until i broke free of the programming

Here's the thing crash. We get that you don't agree with that argument. Neither do I! The point is that that argument (the circular one) is a bad-copy of an actual Christian argument. That "bad" copy (you printed) is repeated very often. It's NOT the Christian argument. So you disagreeing with it is silly. It's a strawman.

anyways, there are lots of rational explanations for the accounts of the apostles' refusal to recant. some guy walking on water and returning from the dead after 3 days is the least rational of these

Literal interpretation of every passage of the Bible? That would land you in jail so fast, it wouldn't be funny.
Hey, I have a book that says it's the absolute truth, too. If you don't believe it, I can prove you wrong by referring to the book. After all, it's the absolute truth.

the author of acts could have either made it up or was misinformed. something may have happened to make the apostles believe. this was 2000 years ago, after all. hell, people today still believe in bigfoot and the loch ness monster and flying saucers. you think a post-prehistoric people wouldnt be easily convinced of incredibly superstitious goings-on?

The whole point is that they couldn't. They couldn't have made it up (we know with reasonable certainty) because they were willing to go to jail and be tortured for a belief of which, if made up, would gain them NOTHING. They couldn't have been misinformed because the argument only applies to things they know firsthand.

crash - Once again, why would you go to jail or be tortured for a complete lie about your adventures on the trail? What would you gain? Nothing! So why would you do it? You wouldn't! That's the analogy presented in the argument.

john - I gave crash that link for his information. It referred to their deaths in the link, not their lives. I wanted to give crash enough to go on should he decide to look further in it. The book mentioned "Book of Martyrs" is a better source for what you are asking about.

"If I heard the Lord right about 2006, the coasts of America will be lashed by storms," Pat Robertson said May 8. On Wednesday, he added, "There well may be something as bad as a tsunami in the Pacific Northwest."

God was wrong, no tsunami in the PNW in 2006.

I discovered something recently but have to read up on it more. According to some sects of Islam when the 12th Madi comes back and wipes out all the polytheistic heathens Jesus is going to come back with him and declare his islam and rule beside the 12 Madi.

Jesus...what a sell out.

Well seeing as how Environmentalisim is a Religion, and they tend to belive stuff they have much less PROOF of...I would say they are on the same footing. Its just that the EWs are libbie/socialists so they are immune from negative comments. Christians represent RESPONSIBILITY so they are a threat to the libbies, and in this case the libbies don't want RESPONSIBILITY, because it hurts their.......

LAS VEGAS, Nevada (AP) -- A Roman Catholic priest who is accused of beating, groping and choking a soloist at his Las Vegas church was arrested Thursday in Arizona, authorities said.

The Rev. George Chaanine, 52, was taken into custody in Apache Junction, about 30 miles east of Phoenix, said Deb McCarley, a spokeswoman for the Phoenix office of the FBI.

Chaanine had been a fugitive since the alleged assault on January 26 at the Our Lady of Las Vegas parish office.

A judge issued a felony warrant Tuesday charging him with attempted murder, sexual assault, kidnapping and battery with a deadly weapon.

McCarley said Arizona authorities located Chaanine after receiving information from agents in Las Vegas.

"He was stopped, he was taken into custody without incident, he did not give chase," McCarley said.

According to a Las Vegas police report obtained Thursday by The Associated Press, the woman, who works at the parish office, told investigators she was sitting at her desk when Chaanine broke a full bottle of wine over her head, grabbed her hair and dragged her down a hall toward his office.

She fought back, lost consciousness and awoke with Chaanine groping her breasts and genitals, police said. She continued fighting until Chaanine straddled her and grabbed her throat, police said.
