Sling chairs
Did Crazy Creek buy out Sling-Light? I saw a Crazy Creek Chair at REI that looks just like a Sling-Light, but for only $50.00.

Maybe you should look at the REI site again;
1 lb 11 oz = 27 oz for the crazy chair, Sling-light is 22 oz. That is a difference 5 oz and a whopping $50.00 in price.

Nope, Crazy Creek did not buy out Slinglight..in fact, did you read my post about receiving a $36 refund from Slinglight a couple of weeks ago? I had paid the full $129 for mine a year ago; they told me that they had decided to return to the old price of $99 so they sent me the difference...I think that was a very cool thing for a gear company to do...

I have this cheaper chair, and I have no complaints about it. I've never used the more expensive kind, so I don't know how it compares.

I couldn't remember the name of your post or I would have used it.
I have a Sling-Light and when I saw the Crazy Creek at REI, I couldn't see any decernable difference. SL must not have a patent on the design. Or maybe if I had them side by side I would see a difference besides the price.

O.T. Having actually used a sling light I would say the 5 oz comes from CC using a coated heavy oxford nylon whereas the SL the material is not the heavy oxford and if it is coated it is very minimal. From looking at the two between websites I would guess it is the classic manufacturer(Slinglight) making money by selling its product making it slightly different and putting the other companys name on it. In this case the material used for the seat because the frame looks the same. Also the CC does not say if the head rest is removable like the Slinglight. I found you just about have to have the head rest to be comfortable in one.

I have tried them on two different occasions and I do not like them. Once was Snownymph's and the second time was someones on Mt. Rogers.
What don't I like?
1.it takes two hands to sit down in or get up out of one. You have to grasp both sides as you sit down otherwise it collapes. So if you have a hot cup of joe in your hand you have to set it down...you can't just sit down in it. This little quirk addressed is in the users manual.
2.If you move around too much or prefer to sit in a more upright position, which I do, it can & will collapse with you in it. It is designed to be lounged in to stay open.
3.It is too low to the ground for my liking. Just a personal pref nothing against the chair.

To each their own and I won't be owning one. I tried it twice and I will stick to my tripod.

from REI's photo, I would say Crazy Creek's got a removable headrest...I'm pretty light and flexible so I can sit in my Slinglight without using my hands...it is true if you rock forward too much you can cause it to start folding up...I've learned how to move upright and have it not do that. If I bought the chair 5 years ago when I weighed 180 pounds I think I would have choosen the heavier chair.
