170 miles in 8 days. Who is stupid enough to join me?

sh'right. even when i was thru-hiking, i'd be ready to fall down and die after just 3 days at that pace, let alone 8.

CB--

I just finished mapping it out and it's really only 159 miles. Starting out with 20+ miles the first five days then dropping it down the last three days. I have two more days available on that weekend just in case . . .

I've done it before...just make sure you're in awesome physical condition before the trip.

you're going to love the hike into Boiling Springs from the MD border. That is the best part of PA.

Looks like I maybe doing an extended trip on the AT the same weekend, but a little further north.

Thats what I call an OUCH hike. I did the Smokies end to end in 3 days. Lost 5 toenails and my feet have never, ever hurt so bad; before or after. The thought of that many miles in a week on the AT in Penn is almost to painful to absorb.

WTF...why don't you just quit your job and thru-hike already! :P

lmg--

I may pass you. My sister wants to send my nephew up for Memorial Day weekend, so I'm thinking of making the hike a bit shorter and moving it South.

We'll be in Damascus May 18-21'ish. It's possible we will pass you...depending on how much further south you go. I don't see us making it from Damascus to Harper's Ferry by Memorial Day.

Though if I let GM take point...I just may eat those words. :|

We'd be getting close. I'm thinking Pen Mar to Front Royal from May 20-24, but I don't see you covering 100 mile days, even with Green Monkey carrying you on his back.

Maybe I'll try to catch up with you a little further north, maybe in New York?

southern PA trail is in my backyard, maybe i will be lucky enough to offer you some trail magic- if you can slow down enough to accept it!! :)

I switched up the plan a little bit based on my upcoming hiking schedule and the fact that my nephew is supposed to come out for a visit (to go backpacking for a weekend) on the 25th. I don't want to plan questionable milage and leave a 14 year old stranded in the airport.

firecrackerAT--I appreciate the trail magic offer. I dropped the mileage a bit, but if my nephew doesn't come I'll probably bump it up again. You're welcome to join me.
