They are very married and a darling couple too.” 10:30:00 AM 7/23/07 “I'll vouch for us too, we are extremely darling. The cuteness of this baby will be like nothing previously unleashed upon the earth. ;-D” 10:31:04 AM 7/23/07 “OK, I'm convinced. Belated congrads on everything. I'm sure you both will be great parents. last edited: 7/23/07 10:35:09 AM” 10:32:32 AM 7/23/07 “Congrats...what an amazing miracle a baby is!” 10:33:59 AM 7/23/07 “I'm sure you both be great parents.” StoveStomper 1:32:32 PM 7/23/07 If it survives its first few buttkickers.” 10:36:29 AM 7/23/07 “Thanks for the congrats, you guys! We're very excited. HAHA! I would say at 2 years old, they should be able to put in a good 20-mile weekend, right? I mean we'd carry most of its stuff.” 10:44:21 AM 7/23/07 “The cuteness of this baby will be like nothing previously unleashed upon the earth. ;-D” lyra 10:31:04 AM 7/23/07 I'll disagree with that. I'll put my 3 up against anyone, anywhere. last edited: 7/23/07 10:47:58 AM” 10:45:59 AM 7/23/07 “We need to keep all the TT kids separate. If they ever get together and start plotting they will take over the world with cuteness.” 10:49:26 AM 7/23/07 “Amen to that. I've already told Emma that she's hiking with a girl younger than her that's taller than Reece. She said, "Whoaaa."” 10:51:58 AM 7/23/07 “lol! Laurel used to call any kid shorter than her "baby".” 10:56:03 AM 7/23/07 “UM Congrats” 10:58:59 AM 7/23/07 “Congrats!! I believe it was Hurricane Janet who first asked the question in WV and ENS was very careful to NOT answer..It was a dead give away ya know...But glad to know it is official!! Best of luck!” 11:01:06 AM 7/23/07 “... still don't believe it. Too many hoaxes conspired around campfires!” 11:02:55 AM 7/23/07 “Haha, I thought some of you ladies might have wondered, when I said I couldn't take Advil! I learned on that trip not to do any more 12-mile days for awhile, I was beat down. And thanks for the well-wishes!! :-) last edited: 7/23/07 11:04:30 AM” 11:04:13 AM 7/23/07 “I trust Creek Dancer.” 11:06:00 AM 7/23/07 “She'll tower over my two this weekend. I still haven't looked into routes. I suspect it'll be Sat instead of Friday before I get there. I'll know more about that on Wed morning.” 11:12:55 AM 7/23/07 “it was jmitch who first asked and then quickly followed by hurricane janet.” 11:14:16 AM 7/23/07 “I learned on that trip not to do any more 12-mile days for awhile, I was beat down. Sheeoot, they told me not to walk more than 4 to 5 miles a day, and no packs whatsoever.” 11:19:20 AM 7/23/07 “Haha, I think the doctors just make it up as they go along! I asked specifically about backpacking (saying I do 10 mile days or more sometimes), and they said I could keep doing it if I wanted as long as I felt up to it and it wasn't too boiling hot out. That day I wasn't carrying a pack though, that would've been really brutal!” 11:23:52 AM 7/23/07 “Congrats! I'm sure "it" will be adorable, and I like that name - "it"... LOL...I agree lyra...except one thing - does your doctor know what backpacking really is? cause many people think it's just day hiking and that a backpack is just another word for a day pack. Just remembering back when I asked a doc if I'd be able to ride my bike after a particular surgery...he said sure...but a friend made me ask again at pre-op, she swore he had no idea what I was talking about. Turns out she was right and I cancelled surgery. Another surgery his nurse said I could walk when I went home, so I did. When I reported to him that I was only walking 2 miles per day, he darn near choked. :)” 11:34:39 AM 7/23/07 “Yeah I don't believe everything the doctors say, believe me! I have a whole Pregnancy Fitness book (and I've been reading a million pregnancy books in general), I think it's all good. Most people say you can do what you did before you got pregnant, for most "sports." I'm allowed to keep weightlifting as long as I don't increase the weights or strain, since I was doing that before...I don't think carrying a backpack would be that different. My pack is always really light. I definitely pay good attention to my limits now, I wouldn't do it if I felt like it was too much.” 11:39:19 AM 7/23/07 “Barbie did a lot of dayhiking with me when she was pregnant. Congrats! BTW I don't know if I missed it above, but do you plan on determining the sex of the child?” 11:43:03 AM 7/23/07 “cool - enjoy it! pregnancy is a cool thing.” 11:43:51 AM 7/23/07 “Are you going to breast feed? There's a great book called "So That's What They're For!" that I can highly recommend. It combines very good information with readability and (sometimes bawdy) humor in one.” 11:48:12 AM 7/23/07 “Thanks, twiggie! Yeah it's very cool so far. I'm feeling extremely motherly and protective of "it" already, haha. Well WK, we would like to know the sex! But some people think babies don't like ultrasounds, that maybe it gives them a headache. I had my one standard ultrasound already, but it was too early to tell...there won't be any more, unless the doc thinks there's a problem. Which is cool with me! I'm sure I'll be able to sense which one I'm having, anyway! Well maybe, I hope. :-D” 11:49:11 AM 7/23/07 “Thanks treebait, I'll check it out! Although I don't know about the bawdy humor, since I'm practically a nun. I couldn't wait to tell you guys, so I could get all the good info from the mommies!!” 11:50:26 AM 7/23/07 “I think the correct title for this thread is..... "ARGGGHHHHH Oh My God THEY have begun to reproduce"” 11:52:43 AM 7/23/07 “Cool! We decided to wait and be surprised as well. Drove my mother nuts! Everyone (except me) swore up and down we would have a boy. I knew from the moment I saw a + on the test it would be a girl. Don't know about untrasounds giving babies headaches. Barbie had one almost every other visit.” 11:55:09 AM 7/23/07 “Lyra, I can tell already you are going to be a really great mom. You'll get lots of good (and sometimes poor) advice from many people during the pregnancy and while you are raising your child. Just go with what is best for you and your family and you guys will be just fine.” 11:55:15 AM 7/23/07 “too cool guys! :)” 12:02:25 PM 7/23/07 “Congratulations! I'm sure it won't be long before we see the little one out on the trail.” 12:05:14 PM 7/23/07 “Aww thanks Creek Dancer! That is good advice. Pedxing, eat it! :-) Thanks for the congrats, guys. Yeah I don't know how they could know if ultrasounds give babies headaches, but I've heard that a lot recently, so if there's a chance, I wouldn't do it. I betcha they're very sensitive to things we would never even realize! I sure do want to know which one it is though!!” 12:07:08 PM 7/23/07 “We have an ultrasound shot of Grace into the third trimester that is scary looking. You can make out her face very clear and if you look at her today, it like matches up.” 12:10:02 PM 7/23/07 “Good for all three of you. My few nice thoughts are with you.” 12:32:48 PM 7/23/07 “who is going to compose the first Haiku in honor of the expectant parents?” 12:52:04 PM 7/23/07 Way To Go !!! “"The cuteness of this baby will be like nothing previously unleashed upon the earth. ;-D" OK lady, I'm diggin' up some pictures!! You'll eat them words!! Ha ha, I knew it!! You two had that sneaky look as though you had been up to something naughty! Ultrasound and headaches, huh? Don't go playing a dog whistle neither. Janet and I wanted to be surprised but "knew" each time that they were boys........and they still are.” 1:12:53 PM 7/23/07 “Unleashed.... Interesting choice of Verb, there, LOL Sounds like a Japanese Monster Movie! Still are, Marko? In guess that's good news! (more than anything, I love getting stuck with a goofball post early on when a thread like this is in the "joke stage"!)” 1:47:20 PM 7/23/07 “for reals lyra? way cool! my kids are the best thing that's ever happened to me, even when they bug me, the good times so much more than make up for it.” 1:50:12 PM 7/23/07 “Whoo-hoo! Congrats, girl! Soon you'll look like me! (I've got 6 weeks to go, this pic was 3 weeks ago!) Here's my unsolicited advice: Books - Jenny McCarthy's book (whatever its called - I have pregnancy brain) is hilarious, though not too informative. The Girlfriend's gude to Pregnancy is great, honest, informative, and dang funny! Pregnancy Week by Week is a good, informative book. Plus, I look up all my symptoms on Babycenter.com. Motherhood Maternity clothes are really cute, but their quality SUCKS! When they say don't dry it, they mean it. Be gentle with whatever you buy there, it'll fall apart before you're done with it. Kohl's has decent stuff, and I've heard Gap Maternity rocks! Old Navy is good too. Um, I forget what else I was going to say. I didn't believe pregnancy brain was real, but then it happened to me. I can't remember #&%!$. :) Congrats again! Hope you're feeling good! last edited: 7/23/07 3:05:53 PM” 3:04:41 PM 7/23/07 “smiley girl!!!! Cool! Hopefully lyra will post a similar pic in a few months. Congrats everyone! How are the "birth coaches" doing. My experience is that the dad becomes an irrelevant blob of protoplasm while the mom is preggars.” 3:20:13 PM 7/23/07 “ENS probably already has an AT sticker for the stroller!” 3:23:14 PM 7/23/07 “Not true. I fluffed lots of pillow and brought lots of orange juice.” 3:23:39 PM 7/23/07 “Well, G is going to breastfeeding class with me tonight, but I'm not sure what that tells you. I know the first few months were rough on him when I had morning sickness. He ran to the grocery store quite often trying to find that "perfect" food to satisfy me! Now, he just listens to me groan in pain as I get in and out of bed. LOL!” 3:28:07 PM 7/23/07 “too bad you are not in san diego. i'm a great doula.” 6:25:25 PM 7/23/07 “No way!” 7:40:38 PM 7/23/07 “Haha, I thought some of you ladies might have wondered, when I said I couldn't take Advil! I learned on that trip not to do any more 12-mile days for awhile, I was beat down. last edited: 7/23/07 2:04:30 PM” lyra 2:04:13 PM 7/23/07 As someone who has worked in teratology I can testify that the first 6 weeks is where a vast majority of developmental damage will occur.” 7:48:39 PM 7/23/07 “So reality mimics the hoax, eh? CONGRATS!” 8:16:24 PM 7/23/07 “Pamela, are you really a doula? How cool! Any advice for us??? Unfortunatly, most don't know they're preggo for the first few weeks, and then us first-timers don't know better on some things anyway. The docs won't see us until 8-10 weeks!” 8:29:21 PM 7/23/07 “Isn't that ironic, SG? Most won't know and dr's won't see you when most irreparable damage will occur. Maybe ironic is the wrong word. zHow about #&%!$ed up?” 8:36:20 PM 7/23/07 “and as sg said, don't freak out lyra - I'll bet none of our parents knew they were prego in the first 4-6 weeks. we're all normal, yes? ![]() last edited: 7/23/07 8:43:48 PM” 8:43:12 PM 7/23/07
