Degenerative Threads

“I haven't been on TT for as long as most of you, but I have been observing a very disturbing trend in the past several months. It appears that a lot of threads degenerate into name calling and insults thrown at each other with little or no substance in the content of what is being written. And that leads me to a couple of questions: What kind of people really are on this website and why can't we all have a grown up converstaion without getting nasty with each other. Are there that many immature people out there? I am quite sure that my comments are going to make some of you very angry and may send some into their normal insult mode and direct some of those insults at me, but I know that I'm not the only one who has begun to notice.”

By certain people on here demonstrating their immaturity through name calling, etc., it is a great indicator as to who you would hike or not hike with. I've begun compiling a personal list so that I know who is mature enough that I'd trust them on a hike. There are some good people on here, and also some of the most immature people I've ever come across in my adult life. Think of it as an opportunity to weed out those who you shouldn't associate with.”
