I saw this and about blew it off until the last line, which nearly brought me to tears. So true, so sad . . . .

I don't get it.

Why was he there? What was he trying to prove / learn / document? All we know was he's a young guy who wanted to spend a lot of time in a store???? What is THAT all about?

What do you find sad?

I agree, it’s just…sad.

"The Des Moines Register, which had been contacted by Spaulding-Kruse, called to ask him about the experience. Once the story ran, TV networks began calling.

He also talked with a book agent, has been contacted by New Line Cinema about a movie concept and did a radio interview with National Public Radio."

That part almost sounds like a comedy sketch. But Wal-Mart is the popular “media crusade” these days.

Who knows, maybe the movie title will be:

Supercenter Me!

We can all rush out to see Hollywood’s version of how we are powerless victims of Wal-Mart’s evil plan to destroy society by keeping wages low and building environmentally unfriendly “big-box” stores. You know the story: greedy executives rake in all the profits while the “working man” gets screwed. But along comes the nerdy "every man" writer who brings attention to our victimization. In the third act the “workers” of the world unite to demand “social justice.”

It’s a heartwarming, but sad, story.

Supercenter me!
Good one, Arc!

But, geez, these freakin' networks must be totally devoid of any semblance of creativity and originality if they think this was worth pursuing. Then again, they really are. Why else would reality TV exist?

So if I hang out there 3+ days will I get a better book and movie deal?

The places are open 24/7.
It's not like he was doing anything like hiding in the store when it was closed.
Big frigging deal.
Arc hit it on the head.
The major media wants to generate anti-Wal-Mart 'news'.
