Cool that you found that out Oldog. Now we know. Guess they didn't know that they could be damaging the trees.??

Yes, I still have your pics on my computer. Are you having trouble downloading? Maybe you should call me and I'll try to help.;)

Phil,
I got the Osprey Ariel 65 pack. I really like the way it fits. Plus REI will mold the hipbelt to comform to your hip shape. It'll hold the canister plus my gear. I did get a blister/burn on my back but I think it was because I was (just about running) downhill for a long time and didn't have the pack tightened so it was bouncing around on my bare back. (my shirt had inched up in the back during the decent as well)
Here's the link from REI

Hey Jimmysan!

Hey oldog, I always wondered who did that, thanks for the info!

Hiking North Lake to South Lake next week, you should look into that being your next Sierra hike, it's a true gem out there with Piute Pass, Muir Pass, Dusy Basin Evolution Valley and Lake etc etc etc. I'll send you a link to my pics when I come out. It's about 55 miles.

T, don't forget to mention the shoulder straps on your Osprey;)

paige - Why did you choose that direction for the North Lake to South Lake hike?

songbyrd - thanks for the info on the pack. My ULA-P2 was not very comfortable on me for the South Lake to Onion Valley hike...not sure why yet.

Phil,
Actually not sure which way we are going, whichever T/H has walk-in permit availability. I've been down Piute but never Bishop. Prefer North to South because I have hiked South to North for most of the trail, wanted to switch it up a bit.

Hummm, 11 days. Depends if we vacation out to visit Shara in Florida or not. I'll keep and eye on it though.

Just want to say on TT how beautiful all your photos are and what a gorgeous area. I haven't followed this thread, knew I couldn't go. Way up there on my 'to-do' list.
