That's simply not true. I know it's been said many times, but the evidence is not there. The crop needs picked one way or another. And frankly, the illegals aren't doing as low of paying jobs as many make it seem. They are often getting nicely paying construction jobs. Cash. and farming jobs.

Study: Immigrant crime rate low

IRVINE – Immigrants are less likely to commit crimes than native-born Americans, according to a study released Monday by a UC Irvine professor for the Immigration Policy Center, based in Washington D.C.

UCI sociology professor Ruben Rumbaut found that immigrants of all national backgrounds were incarcerated at much lower rates than their American-born counterparts, according to the 2000 Census. The numbers applied to both legal and illegal immigrants.

His study also described a precipitous drop in crime rates nationwide throughout recent years – a period during which immigration has been at all-time record high. "While immigration is going up, crime is going down," Rumbaut said. "I think it's important to get the facts out there."

"Even as the undocumented population has doubled to 12 million since 1994, the violent crime rate in the United States has declined 34.2 percent and the property crime rate has fallen 26.4 percent," according to the report.

Actually it is a crime under the Immigration and Nationality Act. That's why it's called "illegal" immigration. A Kansas Court of Appeals has ruled that remaining in the US is not a crime, but the original act of entering the country illegally is a criminal offense.

Besides, there are laws against driving without an operator's license, without insurance, using false social security numbers, false I.D.'s etc. Not to mention the illegal drug activity. These are all violations of the law commonly encountered by peace officers when dealing with Illegal aliens.

As far as my good fortune, I cannot be made to feel guilty for having been born in the U.S. Sounds to me like he was getting as much benefit out of the economy as I am, so where's the unfair advantage I supposedly have? I pay my taxes, and I do my best to keep my money in the U.S. economy. I don't try to take $59,000 of it to another country.
Beyond that, the guy has been in the country for 11 years, yet speaks no English and made no known attempts to get an education? Why should I feel sorry for him?
The difference between illegal aliens these days and the immigrants who came to our country legally through Ellis Island years ago is that those in old times came to make a new life and contribute to their new home, not earn some cash to send to another country. Millions have entered and remained legally in the past, it's not impossible to do now.
